I've played a bunch of these games, but the only one I actually found to be fun to play was Final Fantasy Tactics. The story was pretty much impenetrable, but I could level up those little dudes and change their jobs and move them around on a grid all day — in fact, I did exactly that for about a year in college.

That jellyfish one is by Ernst Haeckel, who was kind of a big deal in biology at the time and could draw one hell of a jellyfish. Jellyfish were kind of his thing, and his illustrated books on animals were fairly popular because they looked amazing.

The gift shop in the museum is surprisingly restrained. They mostly sold books, stationery, posters, t-shirts, etc. For the other stuff you'd want a Ghibli Store. It's a chain kind of like Disney Stores.
When I was there, there were big NGE displays in all of the 7-Elevens because it was the 20th anniversary.
