Depending on where you live, not really. The smog over LA, for example, cleared up directly as a result of reducing automobile emissions.

While it is a rather major repair, replacing a Drive Unit in a Tesla is much much easier than replacing an engine in a regular car. A lot of early Model S’ had drive unit issues and had have them replaced; this is no longer an issue.

Totally understood. People at the start of the 20th century had the same standoffishness about those darn motor cars as well. The horse and buggy just gave better driver feedback and the clip-clop of heels is so much more satisfying and visceral than the metallic racket of a combustion engine, which sounds and feels
