Beans are good. People like them fine. We just have more options on average in the US than they do overseas. The fact we’re still eating nearly 3/4 as many beans as they do indicate to me that we like beans pretty well.

I never thought about the wrap until now. I kinda wish my local burger favorite here did that now. Instead, it comes in a Styrofoam container. I order bun on the side for takeout so I can avoid a soggy bun by assembling at home. I’d like to try them this way some time...

My wife and I were watching commercials from 1990 on YouTube the other night (random find but who doesn’t like a little nostalgia before bed?). It was kind of jarring how hard McDonalds was going on the “no cholesterol” kick of the time. Food trends are weird, but they shape our lives.

Every once in a while, a celebrity pops up and reminds us that we ought to be careful idolizing folks in the entertainment industry when someone being a decent and grounded person is grounds for praise.

Nerdist (from like ‘09-’10 until the sale/rebrand to ID10T) is what got me hooked. I loved the conversations. I loved hearing the co-hosts’ public personalities emerging. I was excited to hear about Matt getting more industry work and moving on from the Apple Store. I was invested during the times internal dynamics

Interesting possibility. The 2021 one was kinda fun, but basically amounted to a gory Power Rangers by the end. Coming off The Boys, I’m sure Urban can slip right in between the serious action and camp, with some great acting to boot.

The death of regular TV is going to hit the writers and crew harder and faster. The things I’m reading about the recent hiring practices of shows and networks with regard to writers makes sense from a producer’s standpoint (save money), but it’s clearly unsustainable. You can’t have shows if you don’t have writers. I

I’m 90% on the guy’s side, but reserving 10% for WOTC’s understandable concern with leaked goods and the fact that some people do exaggerate stories and/or try to get away with stuff. But if all parties agree there was no voicemail left, WOTC escalated too quickly.

BK had the right idea but I think pricing is tough for that. If anyone brings it back, I think it can be them. Or maybe Wendy’s could do a good job.

I has this conversation at work pretty recently. A Portillo’s opened just far enough away that we can’t justify driving there for lunch. It made us, too, wonder why there are so few hotdog places, until something occurred to us: there’s a relatively low ceiling for hotdog achievement. It seems like there are three

Kind of ironic that it’s a genre born from sampling that’s the tip of the spear for AI infringement issues in music. I know it’s different, but it’s an extension of that same discussion. There is an argument to be made for the human creativity that thinks about what sources to draw from and prompts and all that, but I

I’d like to see a Banjo Kazooie movie. Its story has just one arc over at least the first two games, and the characters all have a lot of personality. I’d just hope they don’t fail to give Grant Kirkhope his due on this one and they’d actually use his music. So...Rare...let’s-a-go!

I’m a little nervous about the onions. I really like them as they are, but I’m curious about grilling them a bit. Might not be a significant change. I mainly expect the texture will change a bit with the bun shift, softer cheese, and somewhat grilled onions.

2019? Are we sure? Oh man, that pandemic time dilation is real.

The performance mudslinging is dumb. One YouTube video by a fan (or a non-fan who finds this stuff interesting) could solve the whole thing without any inside investigation necessary. All you have to do is compare fan-recorded videos of the same song from several tour stops and do two things: (1) compare the visual to

That stinks. It’s been a couple years since I did takeout there. Bottomless sides is kind of the main draw. I mean the burgers are good, but I like to pretend I’m healthy by starting off with broccoli or salad on the side, then switching it up to fries after I eat my veggies. In other words, I’m apparently a child.

It’s silly but bottomless fries there is such a treat.

I’m always happy when they bring a fresh basket around at Red Robin.

I can’t help but feel like the service industry took a cue from retailers who do the same thing with charitable giving prompts. It’s a pretty blatant statement that tipping is charity, which feels really bleak and honestly ends up being a net emotional negative whether I tip or don’t.

I think it’s a motivational story for anyone who finds themselves rejected and reading this on a Friday afternoon. Sometimes you suck for a long time before you get something figured out.
