As a parent, I’d like to be able to take my kids wherever I think is appropriate for them. As an adult, I understand that lots of people don’t want kids around. As an American, I understand that a business has the right to be somewhat selective with their patronage (to a degree). It’s a little concerning to imagine a

I figured it’d have gotten a mention, but then who wants to be remembered for getting brutally and horrifically choked-out and dropped on your head by an overzealous pro wrestler in the middle of a silly public debate over the “realness” of the format? Hogan messed up there so I suppose that will be one of the things

This is one of the reasons why I do better in a class or trainer situation than I ever can on my own. Those outside indicators and motivators help me push through the many ways I try to deceive myself in a quest for temporary comfort.

What a mess.

I happens that I don’t drink, but it also happens that I’d like to try out White Castle sometime. Should I not bother if I’ll be sober when the opportunity strikes?

It’s probably a fear-driven response. The public thinks awards shows are kinda dumb but does tend to like when hosts make fun of Hollywood. That means to get people to watch, they need to protect the people who are making fun of them. Few people want to show up to do that if they think the Academy is going to sit on

I never expected to see Bonhoeffer quoted on this site. I’m happily surprised.

I’m sorry to hear that relationship fell apart.

I’m working on it! I need to work on not getting annoyed by it so fast. It feels good to be right, it feels good to complain to the Internet about it, but it doesn’t help anyone or anything most of the times I want to do it.

Both of the things you’re describing are good. In the first instance, it’s more respectful to confirm, because that’s the job. In the second one, it was an act of kindness. These are examples of the right situations and the right approach, IMO.

It looks like 6 months of living expenses is the older recommendation, where 9 months of take-home pay is the newer recommendation.

Getting it “right” is nice, but it’s far more important to be gracious to the folks around you when they pronounce something incorrectly. Unless they’re going to be embarrassed by the others around them or have their food messed with, there’s no real value in correcting them if most people can tell what they mean.

Funny to see this not a week after another article describing how people shying away from leasing has really hurt the used car market. I’m not calling out a contradiction here; I think they can both be true--I think this article explains the other article. I just find it interesting—kind of a one-two punch.

I wonder if “woke” will keep its newer connotations for a long time or if it will fizzle out.

Yeah, the fact it’s Lego-shaped really made me think it could be stop-motion, though I suppose that’d be the case with any shape.

I think he’s making a good point about the cyclical nature of film (and everything) and the way Westerns died off. It also happened to 80s Action movies, Slasher flicks, and a bunch of other genres. It will eventually happen to the Comic Book franchise movies, too. That doesn’t make them bad movies or bad genres; it

It depends on my mood, honestly. Sometimes I want the Coke acidity, sometimes I want the Pepsi sweetness. Lately I want Coke with a burger, Orange Fanta (maybe mixed with Sprite) for fast food chicken, and Pepsi with Pizza or a sandwich. But I’ll take either if I’m indulging in the sodas. I also enjoy finding RC from

There are two big questions here, right?

I’m looking forward to Legal Eagle’s take on this one.

What about WTF and JRE? I think they’ve both been game changers in the cultural penetration of podcasts.
