I’m confounded that 48 people died taking selfies near one fire...I’m also afraid to google it.

There’s probably a healthy dose of #1 in this case, but I think there’s a #2 and beyond. These are also people that make incredible claims against their own parents, that fake disabilities, that portray something that is not as if it is and do so with apparently zero shame. It seems like they only care to the extent

I grew up on medium-well-to-well-done steaks. The last few times I’ve ordered steak, I’ve ordered it medium to see if I can get into it. The softer texture is unfamiliar to me. I guess I’m just a bit uncomfortable with a meat I don’t need teeth to chew. Anyway, it tastes good and everything, but it’s reliably led to

“The last bite of a hot-dog.” Really? Must be a regional joke.

How does a person get to the point where they lie this blatantly and publicly? How does one think there will be no negative repercussions? I’ve kind of known one or two people like this and it’s no less a mystery to me for having spent time with them.

He probably did fight their predecessors judging by what he’s said on some recent podcasts.

I agree. And it goes beyond food into entertainment.

I think a lot of us got sucked in to the idea that “cool” was defined by not liking stuff rather than just enjoying life where we were at and finding the good where we could. Now that I look back at doing it for kind of a long time, I think to myself, “what a dumb way to live.”

Just let her sit quietly. She’s not being disruptive or anything. She’s just opting-out. Her act of sitting is probably far more considered than the rote repetition of saying the Pledge every day most every other student would do. If anything, her teacher(s) should ask her about it privately after class to see why she

Please post a follow-up about what happened here. I’m really curious to see the outcome of the investigation. I don’t know if I’d be more disturbed by the apparent cluster of failures or if we somehow found out there’s a single error to blame for this.

I’m not making this argument but rather testing it to add to the conversation, but does anyone else think the fact she’s a Dallas officer living in Dallas might be a contributing factor? As I understand it, police tend to live in communities they don’t police so there’s a separation between private and public life and

I suspect if her key was in the door, it was probably already unlocked or ajar (since presumably Southside on Lamar doesn’t put the same lock on each door). The guy might have been putting groceries away or maybe just got home himself and she stumbled in, thought it was her apartment with an intruder, he probably came

I picture he’s in sweatpants with no pocket and since he was drilling overhead, he wanted to keep the drill within an arm’s reach while he held the board up with the other hand. Clearly he didn’t switch it from the forward to the neutral position and I’m guessing as he straightened up, the drill’s own weight pressed

That’s a kind thing to say. Thanks!

Great reminder! Thanks! The road to greatness is paved with mundane consistency.

Durring WW2, whole lines of product (everyday stuff like rubber and sugar) were rationed in the US to support the US and other Allied military who were fighting an overseas war (yes other countries rationed and it was in their countries, but the US did it too with very little “action” near the mainland). The public at

I’m not sure it’d be good for my mental health...but it’s part of a bigger picture of issues. Thanks for your responses.

Makes me want to dive into what drives the reported lack of “qualified workers,” be it a lack of interest in the industry, education and training not meeting market needs, or in some (if not many) cases, the business’ reputation limiting their applicant flow to last-choice workers.

These sound like strong points. What measures do you recommend looking at for a clearer picture?

Whether or not the tape affects his base has questionable significance in my mind. He’s only 2 years in and has 2 more unless he’s impeached. Many of them will forgive and forget by then. Unless they hold them until the next election cycle or unless they can get him to lie under oath that he never said those things
