You are all missing the point. This is a play to raise the rent. Smith was living there and paying a controlled rent, much lower than market rate after 30 years. The property owner is going to move in his daughter for a year and then rent it at market rate to someone else.

We know they could put the daughter in the unit of someone who has been there less than 30 years. This is getting rid of someone who is not paying current rent prices, using one of the only ways to throw such people out. I call bullshit.

Maybe so but she is young and can work. She has family. This woman doesn’t and moving at that age will likely kill her. Not much of a competition frankly.

Forget “the North”...Boston is one of the most racist and segregated cities on Earth. I’ve lived here for 15 years. Its an ongoing embarrassment, and it is very much by design. These “progressive liberals” love to pat themselves on the back, but they do not practice as they preach.

My very middle class mother has worn these for years. I’m pretty sure I wore them under sweaters back in the 90s.

I really hate when the response is “this is not who we are”.  Until this point of being called out on their racist behaviour, this is exactly who they are, probably worse.

I frequented the MFA and was a member. Boston is one of the most racist and segregated cities in the North.

There is no way this is the first time 7th grade black students experienced racism firsthand in Boston. Boston is so racist they’ve invented racism for other kinds of white people.

Those shorts alone should earn him jail time.
