nah, it’s not poptimism, just that the SNL skit gave Weezer fans a second wind (though this album seems to have deflated that a bit).

The actor who played the older version of Steven was pretty bad. Everyone else was fine though.

I figured Corporate’s Society Tomorrow was more a rip on Black Mirror than Mr. Robot.

I was wondering this too. She was everywhere in the 90s, but totally disappeared as soon as the 2000s came around. As far as I can tell, nothing really happened that would cause such a sudden drop off in work, but yeah it’s like she was never really a thing after 2001 or so.

Now playing

It dawned on me that Heidi Gardner looks like she could be believably related to Kristen Schaal. So, you know... someone make that show happen, please.

I don’t know, on one hand it does give us some breathing room, on the other hand I often feel like I’ve forgotten a lot about what’s happened in the previous season. I’ll quickly drop shows (especially ones I just sort of like) if I’m struggling to remember what’s going on. I also feel like these one-season-a-year

Satire is a pretty finicky genre, and to each his own.

Ditto. I defended it until I watched it back to the back with the original and its flaws were way more apparent.

So does Aquaman jettisoning the grim-darkness of Snyder really count that much as a win for the DCEU? I get that’s a point of contention over the serie and that Momoa makes things a bit more likeable, but everything else about it was the same kind of terrible found elsewhere in DCEU; even leaving aside grimdark,

I thought the actual escape rooms were fairly neat, but the big problem was really in how it justified tying it all together. The bookending scenes (especially the ending) were really clunky and corny, with some of the most on-the-nose sequel setting ups I’ve ever seen.

True, but this was especially bad.

what was up with the mixing during Miley’s performances? Her voice was way out front and the music was almost inaudible.

I thought the first season was very good, but used up its premise by the end. S2 and S3 were good, but sort of pointless.

re: X-Men First Class - admittedly I haven’t seen it since it came out, but I’ve always felt disappointed that they didn’t really continue that style after that movie. They didn’t really need to fix the incongruities between First Class and the first 3 movies and should’ve just kept with the idea of being a reboot,

Obligatory:

I was thinking when I saw they were making a movie of this that there’s no way it wouldn’t come off as similar to The Happening.

his Simpsons is pretty spot-on and honestly a lot fairer than it should be. The SNL coverage definitely feels like his reviewing something the show isn’t and has never tried to be though.

My only impression of Fallout is that I saw its trailer before literally every fucking movie I saw. Maybe it’s because I’ve only seen the first two MI films, but do I not really get the fascination with the series; I heard it got better, but still...

I’m glad someone else agrees 6 and & aren’t that good, but I’d put them over 5, which is a huge drop off for me.

they could have animated less smirking on Tina Fey’s character.
