It seems like you and I agree. The reviewer herself, under "Stray Observations," used the term lecturing. That's what I was responding to. It's sounded in my experience like a typical girlfriend conversation given the stress level.

Yeah, there seems to be a consensus that some Moira back story in lieu of say, the guys backstory, would have been much welcome.

So a white woman can't lecture a black woman about anything, even if she's an expert in a topic that the other is not? Why not?

Lack of experience in the ether of upper academia must be behind the reviewer's off-target, future-yuppie characterization of Henry's big news. Henry is a geek, a nerd, totally into academics. He's extremely gifted academically, and wants to get the best academic education possible.

It really is hard for lawyers to represent themselves, and to be a good, obedient client when someone else is representing you. The insertion of personal emotion in a process that is normally super rational leads to problems.

I did criminal defense. First off, the original tape would have been admissible. So that part was fake and not a real satisfying way to resolve the Season 2 cliffhanger.

The wrapper toss into the trashcan wasn't just a cute aside. It seemed as if Gus was thinking about a plan for his own venganza. Then he decides to shoot the shot with the wrapper. When it goes swoosh, Gus' face reflects his knowledge that his plan will work as well as his shot into the trash can.

I found the whole storyline of the abuse foisted on Gabrielle preposterous for a character with as far as we know, has no history of violent behavior. It all seems fake and just there to make the plot more dramatic - but it only makes it melodramatic instead. The son arrives on the scene and looks exactly the same age

I hated the way the season treated the Haitian character. They portrayed her as the cartoonish 3rd world primitive her prejudiced employers originally thought of her. From how she tried to open the safe like a 3 year-old, to not understanding a menu. The pictures and prices tell all. Exactly as a picture and a price

There are intermediate penalties for state bar discipline like suspension and disbarment is not the most likely penalty if JImmy has no prior offenses with the bar. And even a felony conviction does not result in automatic disbarment - especially not a familial spat like this. So maybe Jimmy gets a suspension from

Howard's whole thing about the illegality of the tape and the weakness of it as evidence is problematic. It is definitely relevant evidence and was legally obtained under NM law - a one-party state. Since it is authentic, doubtful that Jimmy could prove otherwise. It seems a cheap way to get the plot point they want

Does AV Club not have editors? Holy shit, I came for a review and the comment convos, not for a Salon editorial about how relatively 'woke' Miles is or isn't.

Yeah, some of us gun fuckers actually like movies and tv. Imagine that.

Funny, as an experienced markswoman, I feel "helpless" not having a gun here in NYC? What am I supposed to do if I'm attacked even by hands and feet of a violent male?

I live near Google's NYC headquarters (their second largest office, I learned!). I was interested in a job there, and watched some recruitment videos that looked as if they were SV parodies. All kinds of weird shit plus folks coasting around on push scooters.

I'm completely out of any demographic of someone who should like Girls, but I do. Whether a character is likable or not doesn't influence me in liking a show. It's how the show executes the writing, directing, performances, etc. that determines how good it is for me.

Frankly, I hope we're maturing as critics and audience to get over this whole thing about a character, particularly a protagonist, needing to be likable.

Richard's blowing off a nice woman over using the space bar instead of tab was about as obnoxiously nerdy as it gets.

Just like a lot of lawyers loved The Good Wife. Best. Legal show. Ever.

Nice catch.
