It took me years to recover a semblance of normality after my husband died. I almost died as well. Many people just told me to ”snap out of it.” Drs. didn't know what to do; I was basically alone and had to find the strength to pull myself together. It took years. 

Speaking as someone who lost his wife three years ago, his sounds more like the professional version of “It’s been a year you should just get over it” that everyone who has lost someone eventually gets. Hell, my oldest son said those words to me one year in.
