So to make it less confusing they made two C-class “AMG”s? I do not believe what you have said without a source. If MB did say that; they are lying. They did it to steal sales from the coming S5 and 440i, because they know people will be attracted by the two number AMG badge name.

The AMG-sport models weren’t as different as they try to make it out to be. They are the equivalent of slapping an M sport package option on the car. An M car it does not make.

Not it is even easier to fake owning an AMG. You can just buy it off the lot. ahaha Disgraceful

It is unfortunate. Why not just call it C450 AMG or AMG sport and leave the two number designation to the real AMGs? Never mind, I know why.

Yep. MB clearly has no shame. At least BMW will put the full numbers on the car instead of intentionally being deceitful.

This is a travesty. Rebadging C450 doesnt make it an AMG.

Did you read the conversation or just start commenting?

I thought you were commenting on something else. My mistake.

They shouldn’t have to sell a shit ton of them to be known by a “car enthusiast”. If you’re a car enthusiast the performance division of one of the largest and most popular car manufacturers in the world should be easy to recognize. This is not some obscure company like Spyker or some shit.

I’m going to need some papers to prove that you aren’t an illegal in jalopnikland. How’d you get through the wall?

The numbers for the cars have 0 indication of the level of performance or sportiness. Even if you take out performance and just say sportiness it doesn’t work because of the A1 and A3

You’re understanding of cars is seriously lacking so there is no point in.continuing this conversation. The V6 version will be a sports car just like the V8. Also good job in ignoring my Carrera S and Corvette question.

The V8 R8 was never a super car. I don’t see where that comes from. It was a direct competitor to the 911 Carrera S. The engine wasn’t even a supercar engine. It was an engine taken from a hot sedan that competed with the M3 (RS4). The engine was a great engine, but it did not make the R8 a super car. If the V8 R8 is

A turbo 8 would render the V10 useless and would not properly sit in the 400-450hp range that this car will be in. If they did a turbo 8 it would be the RS7 engine which easily shits out 600hp. Neutering it to 450 was never going to be an option. I don’t why you would even think that was on the table. Maybe your

Yes it works until you have to downsize your engine. The public perception is bigger number equals better. So trying to sell a 320i as a replacement for the 328i wasn’t going to work. The same for Benz and Ferrari and pretty much every other company that has cars named after the engine size.

How did you end up in the greys?

If you can’t grasp the fact that a car can have one name and different engines..

True, but I was thinking Audi branded. I’d rather go home with the M6 if the Bentley was the Audi option anyway.

Tying a car’s name to its engine is a terrible idea that will almost always come back to bite companies in the ass. The car should keep its name based on the race car. There is no reason to change its meaning now, because it makes plebs’ brains hurt.

I cant see how this is inspired by the NSX in anyway. Whether that car existed or not the old tired NA V8 was getting replaced with more than likely a turbo V6.
