I think that replacing May and Clarkson and keeping Hammond would work. Clarkson is done with it, you can tell. Same with May. Hammond does have experience with the show and would hopefully avoid what happened to Top Gear with “who are these guys?” with at least one familiar face.
I know a lot of people are saying it was the hosts and theres no point in rebooting... which is partially true. But I think the bigger thing that is killing these shows is automotive youtube.
It used to be that Top Gear was the only place you could really go to see people doing something really fun with cars. Now there…
Yes, all of the successive and derivative versions of Top Gear have failed to be anywhere near as entertaining or as interesting.
The brand isn’t as strong as the trio.
When are they going to learn the beauty of top gear was the hosts, Clarkson is kind of an ass but the three can’t be replaced.
I’m absolutely shocked that cut-throat capitalism leads to under-maintained equipment, overworked employees, and generally unsafe conditions. Safety be damned! We have profits to maximize!
Depending on the technique used (chemical, mechanical or thermic), it’s between 95-100% of the materials today. That being said, it’s not done on a large scale yet (too few batteries to recycle I guess), and once batteries are too bad to be used in a car (sub-70% capacity or so), it can be used for domestic/industrial…
I tried to use a passport card to board a flight from Nashville to Detroit. The airline agent argued with me for 10 minutes that it wasn’t a valid, legal ID, that TSA wouldn’t allow me to board. I insisted it was, that it was not only an ID, but also proof of citizenship. Agent flipped the card, read that it’s valid…
If live near or have family near a bordering country they are very handy. I used mine for several years until renewal when could get DL updated, I still prefer using the passport card at airports.
Yeah, I mean there is little in the way to prevent that, or even a car with a trunk full of C4 pulling up to the drop off. And while they could pre screen any vehicles entering the airport property, it’s just not realistic. At the end of the day you can only do so much
I was being charitable.
That is the part that I always scratch my head about, the topic of depreciation. I am someone who buys and holds onto my car for a very long time. I don’t care that it lost 30% of the value the second I drove it off the lot, I don’t plan on selling it anytime soon.
People might view buying a used Tesla different than buying a new Tesla in regards to enhancing The Musk.
Especially given the height of vehicles nowadays. Of course, a ped would be hit with the equivalanet of a metal wall instead of sliding up on the hood so the pedestrian air bag might be useless (in this design).
$114k for a Jeep is ridiculous. I thought $90k Jeeps were stupid, but this is on another level. Sure, the inside may be nice, but you’re paying luxury pricing for a bottom barrel dealer experience. People who pay that much for cars have a certain level of expectation from the dealers they buy and service from, and…
I had no idea these weren’t just Jeeps. <shrug>
ETH Zurich Mayhem EV did 0-62 mph in 0.956 seconds back in 2023 also just using its tires. Of course the car weighed a lot less.
Might be a dumb question, but I didn’t see it referenced in the post: What are the tires’ ability to actually translate the electric motor force to the ground in a way efficient enough to make this happen? (Leaving the compressed air thing out since they’re not directly driving the tires.) I know top fuel dragsters…
This can be a little confusing.
