They also haven’t gotten CoL increases for over a decade when they were supposed to be temporary. In the 14 years that the “temporary” cost of living elimination has been in effect, inflation has been over 40%. A 20% immediate raise is more than reasonable. They made a sacrifice to save these companies and its time

There are two different aspects when it comes government funding. The debt and the budget.

This actually leads to another issue. One risk with workers is that they always resist automation. Generally put, a robot will produce higher quality work than a human, once the bugs are worked out. But robots are resisted by unions because a robot replaces workers.

I don’t understand why, if there were - what, four cops, the SOP isn’t for every cop to pull out their weapon and point it at the suspect but not immediately fire? That seems like a more than reasonable warning to not fucking move. I keep seeing comments arguing, “In the time it takes” to do this or that, but 1)

They don’t want to govern, they want to rule. And they’re willing to burn everything to the ground if they don’t get their way.

I think you’re describing exactly how the process is working. If all of the employers are playing hardball, the union can exercise its right to strike and force the employers hand. Either the auto companies have to a) Meet the union demands b) find someone (or something else like a machine) to do the job or C) cease

It’s crazy that the solution is never “give people what they’re asking for, raise the standard of living for everyone, and the CEO and execs make slightly less money”.

It sounds like Mr. Sovereign Citizen (population 1) was travelling in a foreign country with a firearm and blew off local law enforcement.  Then Mr. Sovereign Citizen drew arms, started a very brief war, and lost without firing a shot.

WOL-VER-INES! WOL-VER-INES!

Agreed. That's a impound the vehicle, contact someone to pick you up or take you to the station situation. Expired plates are one thing, this guy was clearly having a "I am above the law!" Moment.

If workers cannot ask for, in a collective manner, better working conditions and higher wages (even if they do not get them) then they are not workers they are more akin to slaves.

Darwin Award, by cop.

Cops aren’t going to just give you a citation and send you on your way for driving around without a license in an unregistered vehicle no matter your “citizenship” status.

This went down the way it needed to. I am normally very critical of any killing at the hands of police but in this case it’s pretty black & white. This “Sovereign Citizen” was the aggressor and earned his Darwin award, full stop.

“Her only child had been killed in a drive-by shooting months earlier”

Evangelical voters in Iowa, who value marriage and children

and the religion they bastardize!

The American Taliban at work. The only real difference is the headgear.

Don’t kink shame!!!

Similarly, Lindsey Graham is 68 and has never been married....
