This is racism, but its also how respectability politics gets passed to us. They start telling us that certain things aren’t acceptable, like our hair or how we speak. They want us to conform to their idea of what an acceptable black person is to them. Then some minorities internalize it and turn it toward each other.…

I think a lot of it has to do with making non-white people. and their hair/styles/etc seem outside the norm. Makes it easier to dehumanize 

Why do people even care about kids’ hair? Why is this a thing? Do these people have nothing better to do with their time?

This makes me so mad. Why are people so worked up over other people’s hair? Unless they’re shedding cooties and lice, the hair of a person other than yourself has zero affect on you and your life.
