MORTAL WOMBAT!
Is there an equivalent to the FCC in Australia?
Beef 'O'Brady's?
If only Janay heeded those words...
I will submit the obvious answer for all of us: the Volkswagen Phaeton. It was an amazingly high-tech machine, essentially a Bentley with a VW badge, but — shockingly — Americans didn't turn out in droves to pay $65,000 for that badge. The W12 version cost nearly $100,000 when it was new.
Doug, it's been a long time since I've been in Philly (graduated from Villanova in '83) but do drivers still do the "let the first driver making a left through" before going through the intersection? I'm from Chicago and almost wrecked a few times before it sunk in.
Thanks for the info. Over 31,000 tweets - holy crap!
Thanks, Zodiac MF - been awhile since I've laughed out-loud.
A corollary to this is: to get respect, you have to give respect. Because my students addressed me as Mister, I would do the same (taught in an all-guys HS). They found it strange at first (especially freshmen) but it helped keep interactions professional.
One of the more important themes I took away from teaching was that you can't demand respect - you have to earn it every day.
Don't know if you can find the extended version of this clip but on WGN Morning News it showed the kid kid-punching (more "leave me alone" than out of anger) his mom after she was teasing (?) him.
Haven't been a fan of ESPN's coverage of the LLWS (many interviews going way too long and being intrusive and/or trying to provoke) but this was the exception. After the challenge was denied (whether the final pitch was trapped or caught) and the obligatory handshakes & celebration by JRW, ESPN cut away to Coach…
Thanks for the analogy - makes perfect sense now. Still not into fantasy football (can't reconcile cheering for my team but hoping a drafted player playing against your team racks up points) but have a better understanding.
Exception to the "don't cut burger" rule - this is from The Illinois Bar & Grill at Midway Airport, which is my preferred pre-flight meal. Nothing noteworthy about the burger other than the size - recommended if you're flying out from MDW.
Agreed. Burneko's "how-to-make" series is terrific but have to disagree on this point. Not something I'd do (buying all the pies would be wasteful UNLESS he upped the ante by giving the pies away to everyone EXCEPT the kid) but respect the stand the guy took (albeit fictional).
Yeah, he provoked it!
dude, if you can't keep it under 140 characters, don't user Twitter...if you need help, try: unless physical assault was the provocation, don't use retaliation (66 chars)
