She is a really bad public speaker, isn’t she? Flat, dead delivery. Staring at her notes, reading them verbatim.

I HAD FORGOTTEN ABOUT DEADLY GAMES. HOW COULD I HAVE FORGOTTEN ABOUT THAT? I LOVED THAT SHOW.
More than a happy ending- it showed humans trying to find their best selves, building the best world they could, and while that world still involved conflicts, it was their essential humanity that allowed them to overcome that conflict.
I mean, last year, CBS pulled out all the stops to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their flagship franchise. They wouldn’t have put all that investment in if they thought their new show was going to be a stinker. They obviously care about the franchise and see a long future for it, and made a huge event out of it’s…
With growth of private prisons and the rollback of labor protections, I’m sure we can get rid of prison guard unions.
I think a large part of it was that Disney’s output through the sixties and seventies was just godawful. In the 60s, they churned out a series of largely forgettable live-action comedies, and in the 70s were almost entirely a made-for-TV studio with a few major features that mostly bombed.
I haven’t watched the show, but based on the thumbnail image for this article, I’m gonna say that Spike Spiegel has the edge on Spider-Man. I have no idea what their conflict is, not having read the article, but… I mean… Spike has the edge on Spider-Man any day. Sure, SM has the proportional strength of a spider, but……
It’s comics. Dead is never dead.
If that dragon in the Defenders turns out to be Fing Fang Foom, I might give the show a watch, but for me, it’s FFF or nothing.
Dear Stasis,
like, say, 1975's affably weird A Boy and His Dog
SWAT Kats is not a shitty show. It’s not anything that rises to the “you have to see this,” level of great, but it wasn’t shitty.
Re, Terminator: NOBODY CARES. It literally does not matter why the Terminator looks like Arnold. In the world of the films, it’s irrelevant. It only matters to us, the viewer, because of the impact the films had on us.
Man, I was really hoping that you were going to say things that made me excited for the game, but… I hate gathering resources. Stardew Valley was an exercise in frustration and it felt like having a goddamn job.
Here’s the thing: they made a 90 minute actioner which explains everything. This is the absolute worst thing you can do with the series. What made the series compelling, especially in the earlier books, was the sheer quantity of dark corners and unexplained mysteries. The story is less interesting that the things the…
Pittsburgh’s metro area has a little over a million people, and if they don’t all turn out to star this comment, then Pittsburgh has failed America.
Say what you will about the Roger Corman FF movie, but it’s actually an enjoyable experience that doesn’t suck all joy from the world. Sure, it’s so cheap that one fight sequence is a spinning frame and sound effects, but it’s still fun.
I think it’s fair to say that TMP failed at its goals, but that certainly doesn’t mean it isn’t still worth seeing. You’re absolutely right- the special effects are definitely amazing, and if 2001 and Star Wars laid out the pattern, TMP cemented it. Our visual idea of what Star Trek is traces back to that incarnation…
The Motion Picture had a drastically different tone than The Original Series.
My top 5 ST movies, in no particular order:
