I mean, the whole joke is that he says, if you throw in a walking talking tree, a raccoon that insults you, and a green woman, he’s going to be perfectly happy with the movie, and not worry about the sound in space.

As a “Star Trek Socialist”, I understand the problems of political parties- there certainly isn’t one that represents MY views- but also recognize the need for collective action. In lieu of groups founded on shared platforms pooling resources to gain seats in a representative government, how would you build consensus…
Hey guys, I found the Libertarian!
Which strikes me as weird, because I always thought dreads were a white person thing. I haven’t done any cross-cultural surveys or anything, but I associate dreads with people who listen to Korn or the Insane Clown Posse more than anything else. I admit, this is probably more a function of the circles I travel in, but…
It’s weird, because blade-length is perfect longsword, but the crossguard and grip are clearly zweihander-sized.
Wow, um… who cares about the trailer? It’s all about that music cue, it must have cost a few dollars more…
I don’t disagree, although that certainly introduces its own problems, but by the standards of the day, it’s better than the similar Bewitched, which involved a man telling a woman to give up her unique powers and fit into his idea of womanhood.
That’s more the effect of sitcoms of the period than a failure of storytelling- you couldn’t really change the characters or let them develop, just put them in a new… situation that causes comedy every week.
Fair enough.
What are you talking about? If you miss what you’re aiming at, bullets harmlessly evaporate and do no damage to anyone. Haven’t you ever seen a movie!
I can see that. I think, at least to me, the key difference is that Sara Deever is also given the opportunity to change, despite ultimately choosing not to.
Is that really a case of a Manic Pixie Dream Girl? It’s closer to a Born Sexy Yesterday- Jeannie doesn’t really understand the world or its mechanics, and exists to serve the interests of a man.
Haven’t seen it, but it seems (at least to me) that the modern MPG stories tend to lift really heavily from Harold and Maude. Garden State is almost embarrassingly on-point as a remake that didn’t know what it was remaking.
The O.G. Manic Pixie Dream Girl is Maude, from Harold and Maude. Here we have the archetype: a woman who is off kilter enters the life of a privileged man who needs to break out of stasis. He needs her more than she needs him, and he is forever changed by the experience and better for it, making her story all about his…
It is bending history slightly, but in a progressive and useful way.
The theme is great, all the music is great, but the music for the final shootout is just THE BEST. It’s a perfect example of how music elevates film.
Partially true. Swingline had made a compact red stapler in the tot-50 size prior to the 80s (source: my mom had one from when she was younger, putting it sometime in the 60s or possibly 70s). They were not making any red staplers at the time the movie was filmed, however.
I’m going for Gallifrey, myself.
It is the episode where I checked out of Torchwank.
Usually, I just don’t bother. It’s not so much laziness, as lack of care. The day I posted this comment, I was in an unusually snarky mood, so I went the extra mile to complain. It’s just… unless the review makes a game sound utterly amazing, why should I put any extra effort into it? It’ll either show up on one of…
