Well, it was an utter delight. I’m with the Monarch- the Red Death is a great guy.

Also, while we’re talking about Clancy Brown- wasn’t that him as the Red Death in Venture Bros this weekend? I think it was.
“No dropping bodies,” Daredevil implores, until it gets inconvenient, then he gives his hired killers thumbs up because ninjas, amirite?
He mentioned that there was a fight in a stairwell, and now I’m SPOILED. I can never possibly enjoy the show because a simple fact that isn’t important at all means that every time I see a character using the stairs, I’m going to ask myself, “Was THIS the stairwell fight?”
I think “inspired by” may even be a little strong. It’s more “influenced by”. Old Boy didn’t invent the long tracking fight-scene either.
Yes, but I still have no idea what was actually going on.
What does Harry Dean Stanton make better by being in it? Everything.
It definitely is better in people’s memories than in reality. That’s not to say that it’s… bad, I guess? It’s just… very dated. At its time, in comic book history, it was a revelation. But what it revealed isn’t so great from today’s vantage.
I really hope it’s better than the comic. The comic is funny, in an angry middle-school way. There’s a lot of great stuff in the comic, but the shit-to-gold ratio is pretty, well… shitty.
Well, here’s the thing: we cast white people in everything. 95% of our pop-culture output seems like it’s by, for, or about white people. So when we cast PoCs in traditionally white roles, it just seems like we’re finally paying attention to the importance of representation. On the flip side, when we have a movie…
On the other hand: casting an Asian as a martial artist is itself an offensive stereotype. Further, saying, “Martial arts is Asian culture” is historically inaccurate, and also offensive- it’s like saying going to the gun range is part of American culture.
I’d hope for the anti-black mirror. The same intelligence, but without the crushing misanthropy. I love Black Mirror, but I hate it- I hate it because it’s just mean. It thinks the worst of people.
The book- Vampire$- does a better job.
Can Archie join the Arrowverse? That would make me incredibly happy. A one-handed Malcom Merlyn can go undercover as the shop teacher at Riverdale. YOU KNOW YOU WANT THIS.
This is mostly why I don’t write long-form fiction anymore. My main characters have no feelings or life of their own. No internal life, anyway. If you want me to move from plot point to plot point, I can do that. If you want those movements motivated by something internal to a character? Nope. I have no idea what…
Biological onomonopia.
As someone once said: “Valve used to make games. Now they make money.”
I was joking.
Why isn’t there a downvote button? Dystopias and Lizzie Borden are the meat and potatoes of sites like io9.
Shit, I always wait for the big sales a few months after release, so can they just rip that DRM shit off by then? That’d be great.
