Mine was The Americans.

I visit BirthMoviesDeath as well, but that place feels a bit more hivemind-esque, and far less amenable to off-topic conversation.

A huge culprit for this with my generation is Family Guy, which often basically slaps it's characters in famous scenes and repeats them ad nauseum, leading younger members of its audience to believe it originated them.

I love John Oliver dearly, but like 80% of his jokes are just him adding a punchline to the end of an otherwise serious sentence and then repeating that punchline once more for effect. So, yeah… some joke variety would be nice.

Oh, believe you me, I know my fair share of elitist students. I have to make an effort not to be one myself; I hate anti-intellectualism, but I think it's important not to fall into intellectual elitism either.

This is totally fair! Don't get me wrong, I definitely agree that there is real value to digging deep and fact-checking. I will also say that a large number of professors are now approaching Wikipedia in a much better way: encouraging it as a jumping off point for further exploration (after all, within every Wikipedia

Speaking as a college student, I can say that a lot of more old-school intellectuals absolutely hate the rise of things like Wikipedia. A rather cynical part of me thinks it might be a product of elitism; information can now come from anywhere, so being the smartest person in the room/ in the conversation no longer

I really liked this video. That said, I sorta feel like at this point content is poisoned just by being posted on GJI; people sorta hate this feature enough that they seem more likely to hate the content on it by proxy (because, to be fair, most stuff posted on GJI is not… great).

Change "this" to "my" and you have the complete leaked script to Daredevil Season 3

As a nerdy fan of quite a few things, i'm reminded of the fact that 'fandom' is the worst part of liking those things any time I encounter it. Basing your entire life and identity on one fictional property can lead to some pretty unhealthy things.
Edit: I apologize if this is an unfair generalization, by the way; I've

You had me at hot spiced rum.

I dunno if anyone here has ever played Left 4 Dead, but I have a mod installed that replaces the music that plays when a Tank shows up with X Gon Give It To Ya. One of the better choices I've ever met.

It'd be cool to have a marker of success in the game other than galactic domination.

Been playing WoW and Stellaris. Stellaris is getting better with every patch, but it's still not quite where I'd like it to be yet. That doesn't stop it from being really fun, though.

I, uh… I would watch that movie. Casino Royale with Han and Lando? That's just so much yes for me.

They're like one big family over there.

My guess: the "lesson" WB will have learned here is to double down on these being "the movies that critics hate" and lean into it even more, rather than even trying to correct course anymore. Furthermore, I would not be surprised if they also doubled down on "controversial" content/ mythos to sell their movies (Batman

Nostalgia. They're what was on when I was a little kid, and they made for great summer music at that age.

I was born in 1995.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I like Sugar Ray. -ducks-
