He’s got a 2.94 career ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and 3.08 K:BB ratio in 590 MLB innings. He’s more than “a perfectly fine pitcher” and Chris Thompson’s analysis is garbage.

I’d mind less if he didn’t spend FOUR FUCKING PARAGRAPHS of considerable length going on about it.
That’s almost certainly not true, outside of The_Donald and it sounds like you’ve spent all of 5 minutes on Reddit. Reddit skews to the left in general and the vast majority of its users would *not* be cheering on the death of the NY Times. Here’s some data: http://www.journalism.org/2016/02/25/reddit-news-users-more-l…
I’m glad they’re gone, they were awful, even if I don’t necessarily approve of the methods used or the people that brought them down. I’m against capital punishment—doesn’t mean I have to mourn Timothy McVeigh.
Deadspin—which covers sports—already covered it, and honestly, now that avclub is part of Kinja and basically the same as the rest of them, they might as well cut out some of the redundancy.
“Welcome to Meat Sack, a guide to sports-related body horror. Today’s column is about mysterious trash fires.”
Wow, this avclub to kinja transition truly has been seamless.
Aside from those who stood to make money off it, I have no idea what anyone thought they’d gain from the whole venture or why it’s significant today other than as a ridiculous spectacle. It was especially lose-lose for King and women. I can’t imagine being inspired by a 29 year old defeating a 55 year old decades into…
I can forgive some random nobody’s attempt at being clever on Twitter. I can’t forgive the rest of the Twitterverse for picking up on it, or the avclub for bringing attention to it. This is seriously a new low for Great Job Internet and that’s saying a lot.
Of all the dumb bullshit wealthy assholes typically buy, you’re ripping on the awesome tank?
Jon Bois and Grant Brisbee are both far better than anyone writing for Deadspin.
Some of them are probably crossposts from other Kinja blogs. The distinction between avclub and any other Kinja site is minimal.
I know Big Lebowski has been done to death, but in a Random Roles this long how do you not mention Big Lebowski.
Now that avclub is on it, there’s like, quadruple redundancy in the kinjaverse. With pretty much any given article that isn’t a sports highlight or something about cars, you’ll probably have a hard time guessing which site actually published it without looking at the URL.
Aside from the pitch behind him, I don’t think it’s really true that they put him on base on purpose. He had 2 pitches to hit in the strike zone. The pitch behind him, and I guess the chirping, is what’s bullshit; the full count walk is just baseball.
Yes, because we absolutely need more NHL/NBA/NFL/soccer offseason transaction news.
The decision making wasn’t the worst in light of the bobble, but he was very, very lackadaisical in actually getting back to first and probably would have been safe if he had hustled back and slid..
Or how about walkoff “catcher scooped the ball up in his mask and you can’t do that”?
That’s apparently only ever happened once in the MLB, as far as anyone can tell, in 1971. Catchers interference is rare enough as it is, but the bases would also have to be loaded (runners with no force don’t advance on catchers interference) in a tie game in the bottom of the 9th (or later) innings.
I never understood the weird sex shaming people do with this, as in this article. “Lol, for pathetic dads who haven’t heard of pornhub!” It’s pictures of mostly naked, consenting adult women. People like what they like, and there are less healthy ways to get one’s rocks off. Who cares.
