The “I know it when I see it” doesn’t make a very good basis for a rule and I doubt having officials arbitrarily make decisions by probing into an athlete’s history and personal life is going to be particularly popular, either.

A rule thus becomes, essentially, “please be honest with us!” Not sure the honor system is a good basis for a major sport’s rule.

That doesn’t mean the CPBL didn’t steal it from Fox, because they they very obviously did.
