I think part of the problem here is that casual gaming has become synonymous with predatory ftp models. Conflating criticism of the current ftp/mobile landscape with criticism of “casual” gaming as a whole obfuscates the fuckery that’s happened to what used to be a much better class of games. Compare Plants vs Zombies

That’s the thing. Mobile gaming is all touch screen and if you have a joystick control on there, it has to, by nature, obscure part of the game screen (or the game has to be formatted in such a way as to not take up the entire screen.

I have good news for you! Nothing better than a controller while sitting on the couch at 3am with a baby that won’t sleep unless it’s lying on top of you.

Godspeed, Jazzy John.

It’s confused me my whole life. I played a lot of computer games as a kid vs console stuff so I often wasn’t playing what my classmates were. I remember the first time I met a boy in school who WAS playing what I played and I was so excited to finally be able to talk about my interests with someone my age. His

A lot of them have nothing else. They’re complete losers whose gamer identity is their thing where they can pretend they’re someone special, above the hoi polloi. A woman playing Splatoon (or god forbid Call of Duty) is a direct attack on their penis, because she might be, god forbid, better than they are and their

In the replies to Piscatella’s tweets, many have reacted to the data with anger, skepticism, and shitty jokes.

You’re not alone.

My first thought as well. I guess that makes sense, since—if your username is accurate—we were born in the same year, and are therefore “classics” ourselves.

I dunno, I think Harvest Moon and Kirby’s Tilt N Tumble are pretty cool additions.

No way Nintendo’s going to re-release two classic Zelda games while Tears of the Kingdom is still so hot, they gotta wait for it to cool off a little to keep the Zelda train running consistently.

Yeah, I mean, even for folks who grew up playing the these GBA games I can’t imagine this is gonna move the needle all that much.

To be fair, there are certainly LOTS of folks in their twenties who are nostalgic for these versions of the games because they first played them on the GBA.

I assume that for Pokémon on GB/GBA, Nintendo’s going to need to at least announce “upcoming” support for sending your Pokémon over to Home in order to get people really excited. (As in, “actually pay for this instead of just talking about it” excited.)

Now comes the part where we throw our heads back and laugh.

I’m sure plenty of blue states would be willing to match any tax credits Florida is offering. Here on the Left Coast, we’re all about business, because we understand where all our tax revenues come from: business! (With a few exceptions, such as the People’s Republic of Santa Cruz.)

I’m guessing that it will be under $40 within three months of release. People will just wait for the price drop.

if a game drops in price in the next 3 months (rough average of finishing TOTK) then the deal is shit

check around christmas, they tend to have a max discount of about 30 percent, so if you need a discount, thats the best time, usually right after black friday it hits. if you can wait, thats usually the time.

I definitely felt that from the very beginning. The interface was obviously meant to be played on the TV with your handheld tablet to scroll through all the menus separately, and it would have been great. Instead forcing it to work in handheld-only mode for the Switch made the interface horribly clunky.
