You can't leave a child alone whilst you go off to work, that's what swung having a dog for me.

1 - I hate when people call dogs their "kids" or me my dog's "mom"

Kids poop without regard or control until they are old enough and trained otherwise, they eat pre-made food out of cans and jars, they don't know they shouldn't run in front of cars, they respond well to positive reinforcement, and they are crated when they are bad or the parent needs to get something done, except in

Now I am going to just say that I knew this would happen. You simply cannot trust someone who has three children from three previous relationships. I hope things work out for her and her child. He is a scrub.

The point of Kinja is to create a better platform for discussion.

I bet if you ran the analysis a higher percentage of people who read the site are "surfing from work" than aren't. Given that the higher post counts come between 9am and 5pm ET. My employer doesn't give a flying fuck if I read blogs/news while I'm at work, as long as I get my work done and I'm not looking at porn.

Yes. Clearly that's the real outrage here. That not enough concern was paid to how upsetting those GIFs would be to men.

Because no men read this site and would be offended by said images, right? No, we can't mention men though, because women are the only victims or some other sexist bullshit.

I hope Gawker HQ gets their heads out of their collective asses about this. It's not okay. Luckily, I haven't seen any of these images, but this is the exact same reason why the PostSecret app had to be shut down. People were taking advantage of the anonymity and posting the same kind of images.

I've been around the Gawker neighborhood on and off for many years now. With each new iteration of commenting, management has shown less and less respect for its commenters and readers and has proven repeatedly that it really doesn't give a shit about us.

Sorry, but Gawker did this to itself by instituting The Platform That Cannot Be Criticized - Kinja.

Hey. I like that you emailed Denton. Do you think that if we all started emailing Denton every time a porn gif got posted instead of help or mods or whatever, he might start taking the issue seriously? I think a few hundred emails every day might help him get the message.

IndoorKitty below has a good suggestion: asking for IP if you have an image. IT should be able to do this and in the meantime THEY should be the ones monitoring and blocking, not you guys. This is a user interface problem, not editorial.

Kinja sucks ass so, so hard. It's even worse if you're reading Jezebel or any of the Gawker blogs on a phone browser. I think Gawker should reach out to 4chan and see if they're willing to do anything about their asshole user who's doing this. Personally, I'm only bothered by the gifs in the sense that if I'm in a

That's a great idea and I was going to suggest something similar. I'd be willing to give up my .gif party madness for the peace of mind that if I read Jez at work (which I do and many of us do), my work PC isn't going to be caching rape gifs.

Yup. Kinja is utterly awful.

This is so horrible. Thank you so much for addressing it; I just sent this email Nick Denton, the founder of Gawker (nick@gawker.com) and am looking forward to the reply:

IP address are NOT like a normal house address. For the average user, IP address change all the time, usually daily. Even then, there are numerous workarounds for altering/changing/spoofing IP addresses. IP bans are not a panacea to cure unwanted commenter.

There's a point to Kinja? Because it's failing miserably. Comments around here were 200x better a couple years ago. Old articles popping up make it all too obvious.

I gotta say, Georgia was about the last place I expected to see this kind of groundbreaking going on. But this is a high-water mark, and if it sticks, it deserves a standing ovation.
