what if her car just went kerplunk. is that murder too?

It is absolutely still a monumentally dumb decision, but his speed certainly plays a role in his ability to stop in a timely fashion and generally should be a mitigating circumstance in her sentencing.

I don't see the point in sending her to prison for something she didn't mean to do. It costs taxpayers money and serves no purpose. Prison should be reserved for people likely to harm others again. This woman will not likely make the same mistake. A more fitting punishment would be taking away her license.

The drunk driver who killed my father-in-law got 1 year.

Actually, the speed limit was 90 km/hr which roughly equates to 55 mph which means he was going somewhere between 23 and 39 km/hr over the speed limit. While she obviously made a gigantic mistake and should bear the consequences of that, she wasn't stopping on a highway where 75 mph is appropriate at all.

The law must be different in Canada, because in the US, I think (I might be wrong) the motorcyclist would be at fault, rear ending a car no matter how slowly it was traveling. A car could stop on the highway for any number of reasons. What if she had stopped for a baby human? Would people still want to throw the book

Seriously? She made a mistake when trying to help animals, admittedly a big mistake, but to lose your whole life over it as well? That's almost as unfair as the father and daughter losing theirs.

Still doesn't stop being sentenced to prison for LIFE from being intense. She did cause this to happen but it was HARDLY her intent in any way shape or fashion.

Canadian lawyer here: She's not going to be sentenced to life. She COULD be, but she won't. This is why we have judges and judges have discretion to consider things like this (and this is why I hate the way the media reports potential sentences, because everyone thinks the maximum is far more likely an event than it

I don't think this woman should be in prison for life. She's never going to do this again. Make her take driver's classes and give her community service.

I have a question - IF her car broke down and ended up on the left-hand side of the road... what then?

Agreed. They didn't bat an eye years ago when he would openly masturbate during interviews. I think they thought any publicity was good publicity.

Sure, but it's still a bird of prey and I wouldn't fuck with it.

Dear God - Poor Pineapple!

THAT IS ADORABLE.

When I first started water aerobics, a woman who I'm sure was commending me told me I was courageous for wearing a bathing suit. I literally had to slow blink. She told me I was courageous for wearing a bathing suit. A. THE. POOL.

I get that you thought you were doing a good thing, but you treated that person like the special needs child who needed a participation award. Not only was it not your job to give him an "attah boy" for working out, it was unintentionally patronizing as all hell. Fat folks aren't asking for your permission or

I honestly would have been mortified seeing someone thumbs upping me and would assume you're making fun of me, tbh. When I am exercising outside I want nothing but to not be noticed because I feel like I'm being stared at/noticed already (this is why I prefer to exercise at home most days). You might want to consider

No, you don't get it. In "encouraging the fatty who is doing such a good job," you are being super condescending, though you think you are being helpful. You're demonstrating a "look at the zoo animal" mentality. People just want to exercise in peace, to not attract any attention. Fat people want to go to the gym

Ugh, I have a hard time keeping him and Terry Richardson separate in my brain. They just merge into one Creepy Disgusting Uncle.
