My daughter was an emergency c section and even though she and my wife are fine I almost couldn’t handle that quest.

I’m with you, having been in an abusive household growing up, and later being in an abusive relationship. There was no redemption for the Baron in my eyes, because I’ve been through enough abusive situations to know that people like that do not change.
As a father who lost a pair of twins late in their pregnancy, this quest was simply terrifying for me. I remember getting to that part late at night and I started shaking and almost physically unable to move the keyboard because suddenly all of the emotions of the night we lost our twins suddenly rose to the surface…
I’m not trying to invalidate your comment. That was never my intention. I mean, what do I know about your life? I’m just some guy on the internet.
My father was an alcoholic when I was young (I’m talking baby young, too young to remember all the terrible shit he did) he and my mother would go at it. I heard all the stories from my mom later on. It wasn’t very pleasant to find out about. They divorced while I was still young and now years later he’s stopped…
It's a moving scene, but having become a new father a few months before playing this game, that part REALLY hit me. It will stick with me for some time.
For me. There wasn't. There were certainly other excellent points — I really enjoyed the Skellige questline — but this quest was one of the best written video game quests I've ever played. Usually, I'm not one for the hype, but in this case most people were right to be applauding it. CD Projekt managed to make me…
I thought the three crones character design was amazing, especially basket head.
I loved this quest. Over the course of the Baron’s story I came to change my opinion of him every time I saw him. He was complicated, I loved and hated him. By the end of the story I was so surprised that this one storyline had such of an emotional impact on me.
You hit the nail on the head there is definitely no truly happy endings in The Witcher game series that is the reason it is one of my favorite game series because it tries to break the rpg mold in terms of story.
Great read but a small correction. The Baron didn’t cause his wife’s miscarriage. She asked the witches to get rid of her baby.
In the Witcher universe, no one really wins. You see that many times over in a play through of the story. All you can really do is do what you think is right and hope for the best in the future. In this case it was lose-lose, but you learn to live with your choices and move on. Maybe that also says something about…
Having delt with abuse when I was a child, this story impacted me a lot as well for the things he mentioned. when I first saw the Barron, I thought, “Ah this will be a cool character that I’ll probably like.” As soon as I learned what he did, he was unforgivable to me. No matter how much he begged or seemed…
I believe there’s only 2 outcomes (though correct me if I’m wrong):
I played the Witcher 3 after I had heard it was to be the last. After finishing this quest I stood by that tree just watching him for a bit and arguing with myself if they should make a Witcher 4 or leave on such a great example. I still don’t have an answer I’m completely satisfied with.
The quest is one of the games high-points but I feel like there is are A LOT more quest that also deserve some attention. I feel like whenever stories come up about W3´s narrative its baron baron baron when there is so much more (and better) story to talk/write about.
There are no clear winners in both outcomes because if you free the woodland spirit the orphans escape but then the spirit goes on a rampage and the Baron’s wife is cursed by the crones for allowing the orphans to escape and he commits suicide. If you kill the woodland spirit the orphans get eaten by the crones and…
That freaking quest made me cry
I cried for a man who I would hate in real life... and it’s so difficult to explain why
.....Honestly... I think it was just the fact that this quest was so perfect in it’s execution that it made the rest of the game seem that way. *shrug* Ya’ll need to settle down with the “Rushed out” stuff. If it was, I’d want the devs to let us know. I’m happy they put it out though. i enjoyed every minute of it.
“One day there was a letter delivered to the office,” said Sasko. “It was sent by a father who had lost his daughter when she was a few months old. In his letter he wrote about his experience trying to save the Baron’s baby daughter which had turned into botchling, how desperately he wanted to save her. It was a…
