Tantrum = Commenting on a pop culture site review about the artistic merits of the show? Wow.
I’m a huge fan of Brandon Sanderson, but let’s be honest, these are books so far from his wheelhouse, he wouldn’t ever do a good one.
Making it clear that English is my second language and I don’t always manage to catch some subtleties in different wordings, wouldn’t that be a species?
Why is it from the wrong place? I’m truly curious. Spanish *is* unfortunately gendered in a way that can’t really be avoided while using the language as it is currently used. These constructs allow to bring English’s gender non-specificity (one of its better qualities in the modern world, honestly) into imported…
I feel compelled to chime in, as someone raised in Mexico who understands the need to overcome my language’s gendered nature. Latinx is okay. I wish Spanish had been more inclusive from the beginning (I struggle to write gender non-conforming characters because of that!), but languages are made and changed by the…
The problem is that Tony’s armor eventually became so good it was practically magical. Tony EVOLVED on par with the scope of his story, which evolved on par with the scope of the universe at large. Neither Oliver nor his story really evolved. It was always about grounded villains who punched really hard. They just…
Yup, but we weren’t really supposed to laugh at that...
I always struggled, until the end, with Arrow trying to embrace the time-traveling dimension-hopping shenanigans of its sibling shows. It always felt to me like something foreign to the show, that didn’t quite fit, and that was artifically injected into a show that would’ve been better without it. I think that’s one…
That’s exactly the thing. There are no big name actors because they don’t get cast. It’s systematic discrimination. That’s why the push to include more characters of color (played by people of color) and queer characters (played by queer people) is important. Because we’re very far from an equal playfield. And not…
I just realized that every season of this series has had an absolutely standout episode.
Oh, my god, my boyfriend is from Zacatecas!
I feel famous by association of association of association of association... (etc.)
Both are idiots, but I’m still team Gabriel, mostly because of how attractive I find him =P
The Lord of the Rings REALLY downplayed more fantastical elements of the books. It was a start, but not really part of the era we’re in now. We’re in that era THANKS to Game of Thrones.
Right now the general public eats fantasy up, but in 2010 that was still preeeeetty different. The show would’ve never been successful otherwise.
Hey, Reddit might be a cesspool but it’s not really generalized. I’m subscribed only to a bunch of smaller subs which are, for the most part, really nice. LoT is one of them. My experience of Reddit is generally pretty good since I avoid the bigger subs, and that’s why it surprised me.
Just saw someone on Reddit (and on the LoT sub, which is the nicest out of the Arrowverse subs!) saying they wished she had been completely paralyzed and her career ended because apparently she was “a racist bigot with white old men” and I’m just here thinking we as a species don’t deserve nice things.
