Do you watch the program at all? Did you watch the interview?

Please actually watch the interviews.

Seriously, guys?

No one hates new Trek more than Trekkies.

Handlen has been mad since before the beginning.

I think you’re missing the point of this article, which is to give Trendacosta another thin excuse to weakly complain about Discovery.

We get it: You think the show is “grimdark”. Move on.

Really, Handlen?

Somehow I knew it was Sava.

Why is the “satire” always about getting along with alt right/white supremacist guys and participating eagerly in their videos?

There are a million deep dives into popcult journalism in the TV and film section. Go nuts. This site is plenty topical when it feels like it and friends aren’t involved.

How? Was Alamo Drafthouse not sheltering multiple sexual predators for decades?

Pretending AVC doesn’t do deep dive work and fancies itself pop cult journalism all the time, then ducks behind the line when it’s convenient is the same mistake Gawker made.

Yeah, I’ve seen the article. I’m sure that was very emotional on the ground and I don’t want to invalidate her POV. But at the end of the day this is also part of a planned event at the Alamo Drafthouse, part of Fantastic Fest, which is currently in the middle of a massive sexual harassment scandal.

Great. So will you be reporting on those meetings for the AV Club, and in doing so also addressing directly to the staff stories like the one I linked above in my OP, where a current organizer apparently told Jill Lewis they would absolutely would not be discussing this stuff or her own experience with harassment at

I see we’re falling back on the “we’re not journalists, just bloggers” defense that served Gawker so well.

I’m not talking about newswires reprinting info broken by other sources. I’m talking about the journalists on the ground in Austin engaging directly with the Alamo folks about the Drafthouse’s systemic history of covering for sexual harassment. On the record. Not private conversations in between cool movies.

Where are they doing that?

They’re not all winners, Patrick.

They can be confronted on their systemic history of covering this stuff up for their business partners, staffers and friends, and the journalists in attendance can ask for direct public comment.
