No dude we need MORE LAWS and restrictions. Someone has to save us from ourselves! Personal awareness and accountability be damned!

I made this comment in another post, its the same here. You cannot teach “give a shit”. Sure you can make it “illegal” to make a right on red, but the same people who don’t STOP FIRST currently, will be the people who will continue to go right on red. I would even argue that outlawing it would create a false

Y‘know... as a pedestrian, I find I’m a lot less likely to get run over if I cross BEHIND a car after it’s passed. It’s easily worth the 2-second delay.

Try again.

No it isn’t. For this opinion alone you should revoke your right to call yourself an enthusiast and quit your job. I’ve been on this shithole of a website for like ten years now. This was the last straw

counterpoint, no its not. Learn to look both ways before you cross the street.

Oh look, one of Jalopnik’s resident communists is advocating for more stupid communist shit.

A made the mistake years ago this was a car enthusiast page, but after years of people defending slow Camry’s in the left lane, waxing poetic about fuel efficiency as a reason to love a car, and ripping on anyone who prefers to drive a manual, I’m convinced I’m just here for the comments now.

I remember hearing a person try to make the case that “even if one person is saved from drowning!” we should get rid of all public swimming pools. This article is equally as absurd.

Um....no.

Sorry, right on red is just smart. Try living where it isn’t allowed, watching nothing going past and just sitting for no reason. You just need to excercise common sense, which I do realise is hard for a lot of folk.

I have a different solution, end the mixing of pedestrians and cars. Have a separate time for pedestrians to cross. A time when all vehicle traffic has a red light, and during that time, right on red is prohibited. Install traffic cameras and issue fines based upon what is observed by the camera after review by a human

Ha ha... F You.

Please get out of your own asshole.
Right on Red improves traffic flow in nearly all situations. and outside of downtowns with dense pedestrian populations, it’s not a problem. It shouldn’t be a blanket national, state, city, or even municipality rule. It should be intersection specific. “NO TURN ON RED”. Everywhere

As a pedestrian, I‘ve literally never had an issue with vehicles turning right on red. That's because I'm an intelligent human being who understands that it's important to make eye contact with the driver of that vehicle, or otherwise ensure that they are clearly not going to start moving when I step in front of them.

Normally, I’d agree. But it seems like this article is yet another anti-car hit piece from this supposedly driving orientated magazine. Why do you hate cars and driving so much, Jalopnik?

Transitioning is not always easy. especially if you do it in one car for a long time. There’s a lot of muscle memory to retrain.

I did, but it keeps bringing me right back to this article.

This is how my brain interpreted the title of this post:

Its a soup.
