And the wheezing, ready to go power steering pump sound all 3800s make.

Better than being out of nachos.
I had previously owned the LS460 but didn't like it, too big/floaty. Test-drove an '08 GS460 and really liked the powertrain in the smaller body, plus it comes with the dynamic suspension. But the '08-'09 still comes with a cassette deck and no bluetooth audio streaming. They fixed that in the 2010+'s...and then…
Sweet color too! I think these early IS cars handle really well after some anti-sway bars have been installed.
That was probably the most amazingly informative response imaginable to that question. You are now the first person I have ever followed on Kinja. And I've been here for years.
My main gripe with Toyota/Lexus as cruisers is that they aren't shutting off cylinders for MPG's like Honda does. My buddy's V6 Accord Coupe gets ~34 MPG highway because of this. As a road cruiser you don't need 500 horsepower over 350, or the stiffer suspension. As a weekend fun car, you'd probably rather have a…
time. I was going to do it, but Jack Baruth was in town and his original story idea to drive (X) press car back across the country got cancelled for one reason or another. I suggested he drive the Lexus instead. They are on the list for when Tavarish drops the car back off with me in LA.
the engine and gearbox are original. There are no service records between 2000 and 2014, but in the PPI it was clear the owner responsible for all the miles (#2/4) was Buddhist monk religious about maintenance. He did 830,000 miles in 12 years. The last owner, #3, bought a cheap car, and only changed the oil for 2…
we suspect the valve body, because 2 different techs + Tavarish have tried that and it only works intermittently, for a while. Unless the cable is stretched and it needs an entirely new cable.
If only there was a million mile Lexus around that they could showcase that reliability.
It's funny, because my dodge with 90k miles is probably more likely to break down.
They need to just market the reliability aspect of the thing. I would buy a Lexus over a BMW, but never because of it's performance. They need to advertise the car differently.
I love the BMW M4, but the Lexus is the one I'd be confident to own past its warranty.
kickdown cable adjustment. Yes the a340e has a kickdown cable.
900k on a LS400, just be sure to follow the break-in instructions.
No, I suspect a valve body or sensor issue. It downshifts manually without a problem. It doesn't slip in any gear and goes through all gears.
I can see the headline now
