As a human who has traveled with United a handful of times, this actually seems much more humane than, say, forcing the dog to speak with a desk agent.

I think it is one of the movie cars, because some of the cars used in the chase scenes had their windows painted so you couldn't see the driver. To see where they were going, they had to look through a slit cut out in the paint on the windscreen.
