Personally, I think you are being overly dramatic by saying these items are tasteless crap. The organization has to make money to support itself because the government isn't supporting it. Therefore, the organization has to have a wide range of products that can appeal to about every spectrum of visitors.

Well, if the government isn't going to help fund the memorial museum, they're going to have to recoup expenses somehow. Sure some are in bad taste, but I'm pretty sure people would be disgusted with anything in the gift shop.

Answer: Yes, she would have. The arm was spinning with her at one end and the center of rotation somewhere near the center of the arm segment. When she detaches she'll continue to move in a straight line tangential to the circle she was spinning in previously, away from the arm.
