So, like, don't buy jeans? Or shoes? Like anywhere I buy anything, its the same system.

I mean, the French really didn’t treat the Indians much better than the Spanish. They still setup Louisiana on top of conquered Indian land. The British, well, they founded the American colonies and that went terrible for the Indians too.
How can we be so sure? Not many people believed in the Westward passage to India, and it took a monumental amount of convincing for Columbus to get financing from Spain to do it. His sailors even attempted mutiny because they figured they would starve to death on the trip.
I can agree with this. Like I stated in my own thread, it doesn’t weaken the capitalist patriarchy to buy stuff at full price. Add to that: it doesn’t bring any native americans back to life, it doesn’t undo history, it doesn’t make it better. The history just is. The chance we had to change it was 523 years ago.
I’m fine with it. I think erasing the name “Columbus” sort of white washes history. Yah, this is the day we celebrate a murderer establishing ties between Europe and the Western Hemisphere. Like it or not it happened, and it happened the way it did. And lets face it, it was one of the most historically significant…
But why would it have been better had it not been Columbus? Columbus was the only one who really believed and sold the trade route to India, everyone else was going around Africa.
Wait isn't this Jhene Aiko?
??? Ok white guilt doesn’t help.
This. As much as I hate it when white people say they “discovered” Brooklyn, I hate that people’s history only goes back so far. And New York History is my biggest eyeroll. Like black people moved to Brooklyn because it was getting cheap after white people started leaving because black people had slowly creeped in.…
oil pull or whatever specifically because brown people have magical powers or “ancient wisdom” or some shit.
Most of the deaths of native americans were due to small pox, which neither the natives nor the Europeans had any idea of beyond that it existed (the Europeans were still trying to bleed it out in the 15th century). You can’t really blame them for not knowing that the natives were not inoculated against something they…
The French did not start trade with the Iroquois until after Columbus though. And the French would have still brought them small pox. And the French also colonized most of what is now the Midwest in America. It's not like the French treated the native Americans much better.
You kind of are assuming folks would not have figured out the wheel or domestication of horses?
I was going to say the same thing. Elvis has lots of country under his belt, its why country stars today try to emulate him now.
Ummm...
In the most literal sense, I would argue that America was allowed to be built by Native Americans who magnanimously did not murder the random pilgrim people who rolled up to their shores, but instead gave them farming advice.
It always amazes me where people go with their careers. From political science to STEM, that's a whole different skill set (in math) that you had to re-develop. People always told me Accounting was a lot of math but its actually more basic programming in Excel. Now that I am looking to get my masters (never too old at…
Generally speaking it would cause a lot less harm.
I don’t think it does. There aren’t many parallels between obscenity and self defense.
Why is this person denying themselves the one bit of exercise that people who live near Wal'Marts would get anyway (walking at Wal Mart)?
