Wonderful motorcycles that can go off road as well as cruise at autobahn speeds all day. I laughed when I realized after a San Francisco to Fairbanks roundtrip that I had never got the bike into 6th gear.

I have a love for Peugeots of this era. In the mid 1970's, after spending a summer backpacking West Africa and seeing many Peugeots in action, I came home to Oregon sold my Jaguar and bought a 504. After a winter roundtrip Oregon to NYC the car needed...a quart of oil.

I find Highway 80 through Nevada (and onward east until the Salt Flats) extremely painful. Which is strange because I really enjoy Highway 50 through Nevada, which essentially parallels 80 south of it.

The problem of electric vehicles in the USA isn’t range, or the cost of the vehicle. It’s how there can’t be a market driven solution to charger availability until ExxonMobile figures out a way to sell the electricity at $4.00 a kilowatt. Maybe with their “Premium Electrons”.

I live in San Francisco and I can easily see a big percentage of the market being satisfied with the 50-75 mile range. Living here it is common to know some cars and motorcycles that don’t cross a bridge in years, if ever. It’s a great place for a 50 year old Mercedes that only goes to Whole Foods and Brunch.

The thing is, if you bought Tesla a few years ago, a bubble burst bringing the stock price down to only 10% of current value would still make it one of your lifetime best investments. I remember a couple of Architecture firm friends had these back in the 1990's. They had a certain appeal to some design oriented folks as something to commute to work in while even wearing a suit.

It may well be over valued, but I still have, and have never touched, 200 shares I bought in 2010 just for the hell of it. At the time it was half investment and half donation to something potentially worthy.

Living in a steepy-steep part of San Francisco, these kind of problems are always on my mind. You haven’t really mastered parallel parking until you parallel park an old Jaguar E-type on a steep SF residential street.
