I had the misfortune of seeing this film when I was about seven (it terrified me). When my parents announced three years later that we were going on a cruise, abject horror was not the reaction they expected from me.
Complain about the acting all you want, but as you say Anakin’s descent made complete sense. Maybe Ren's does too, but I really don't see why everyone is raving that this one is so much more convincing (yet).
