The problem I’ve had that prevents me from “cutting the cord” is that cable + internet isn’t that much more expensive than just internet alone!

I don’t think a serious free-diver would use this. They already have serious airbag equipment of some sort, and they even have weights to pull them down faster! (for some types of free-diving). Realistically I think this is made for a market that doesn’t exist.

Only if you’re scuba diving (in which case you’d never be using this device). Shallow water blackouts happen even when free-diving, but I don’t think your speed matters for that.

Well, you’re already essentially wearing one of these with your buoyancy vest, or by ditching your weights!

1) Extended final gear- I wish that my six-speed had a taller sixth gear! I’ll regularly be spinning at about 3500 rpm for hours on end. I know that if it were taller it would hurt acceleration up at those speeds, but c’mon, how often...

The Darien Gap.

The thing that amazes me is not how much it’s moving, but how fast it’s moving! That must have felt very violent.

That’s still just based on your opinion. A blinking light might annoy you while increasing safety for everyone (or it might not). But either way, I’d base my flashing/non-flashing decision on the ambient light conditions. On a dark/semi-dark country road, sure, a solid light might be better, but in the city where it’s

What evidence are you basing this on? I ask because you speak with such authority.

Why do cars have brake lights? So that you notice them, or so you notice that they are braking? It can be difficult to tell when a vehicle is slowing down, especially when it’s someone on a bike or motorcycle. You should still signal by hand in many cases, but I also still think this is pretty nifty.

Why is EVERYONE seeing this as what someone might consider replacing a flashing rear light with, instead of simply adding it to augment your lighting? As far as I see it, this is a pretty nifty device. Sure it might not be seen all the time, but it’s just a nice thing to have.

I’m tempted to get one. Not because I disagree with any of your two statements, but because I figure that it can augment your existing lighting, and only costs $10.

I’ve heard mostly good things about them, but I did some light fact checking before disagreeing with you:

Cannondale’s been producing lefty forks for mountain bikes for years. It has its drawbacks, but they’re all known. And I don’t think included in them are anything you mentioned.

Yeah, for me the red-yellow would be enough for me. Worked perfectly from what I saw in London. When it goes green, people are going right away! But where I live (Boston), I don’t know how well it would go. People run reds so often (a full second or two {literally}) after it’s changed. As in, every day, I see someone

Agreed. Assuming you’re referring to the smaller plane.

It is flat. It just looks that way because the camera is further away from the outer edges of the earth.

It may eventually be understood, but first it has to be proven.

Before I even saw that you included a link, I was going to say “No, it was Amanda Knox.”

That totally could be the case, but hopefully not. I’m just thinking of all of the cases similar to this one: a car is driving towards a checkpoint too fast. Is it just someone who is confused/oblivious/having a medical emergency? Or is it a suicide bomber? If the soldier isn’t worried about himself and his comrades
