Yes! I watched the movie later in life than most people, but the one takeaway I had was that Jack Nicholson played the part as if he was unhinged the entire time and that his wife’s “nagging” was what broke him.

The Mae Whitman Operator is seriously good! I watched it at SXSW and it is funny, frustrating, and depressing at the same time. Cameron Esposito also has a supporting role in it, and there is a glorious bit by Retta at the very beginning. See it!
