Really, “Shut up Meryl”?

And it’s not what feminism has meant historically, it’s what it has come to mean to young women that makes them feel that it alienates them from the people they love in their lives.

So, female celebrity takes out cease and desist letters to outlets in order to remove nude pics, yet delcares she’s not embarrassed by them, bc she embraces her imperfections (#everywomanisbeautiful) = body positive, feminist hero

I am a big, blubbery, bleeding heart liberal, but this is just ridiculous. There have definitely been some very offensive costumes posted on here, this isn’t one of them.

It is not. People are effing crazy sometimes.

... is it insensitive to go as a dead lion? Like. I’m genuinely asking this because I really don’t know where the line is anymore.

If you have testicles, you’re a male.

What she said was fucked. However I do think its a little tacky to bandy out trans murders whenever someone says something uncouth. A rude comment and taking someone’s life aren’t related - and it seems like you’re going for cheap points and spurious causation.

I don't think dehumanizing means what you think it does.

I got the other side of the story from the news article in the link. Read it.

They teach them young, so by the time white girls hit 21 they spring fully formed into the world, complete with pumpkin spice lattes and magical white lady tears.

According to this article, the suspension was only for ONE FREAKIN’ DAY. Yes. ONE. WHOLE. DAY. Which is making me side eye the parents who are trying to make it sound like the kid was kicked out of this school for good.

I hate these type of stories, where we get all of the “facts” from one side and in this case, from the accused.

We are getting all of our “facts” from the family of the accused. Making this a one sided story. I have a feeling there is more to this that they are leaving out. It’s one thing for the school to kick him out. It’s another thing for the court to look at the case and agree with the school.

The Fox TV report mentions nothing about the race of the girl. Jezebel is obviously race baiting here. How would we all react if there was no mention of the girl being white? Now answer me this as well, when you saw the TV report, would your first question be; was the girl white?

I agree. Blaming this girl for this shit isn’t reasonable. She’s 12, for fuck’s sake. She’s been silently taught that “black people are immoral” and “boys are dangerous”, and she has acted accordingly. Instead of being corrected by the adults who are responsible for her upbringing, her prejudices about black men have

It does not matter what the boy’s intentions were, what color he is or what religion the girl practices. If the girl felt threatened or uncomfortable, the girl should always be believed. Otherwise we are just succumbing to rape culture. Men never matter in situations like this. Only what the women or girls feel.

Wait, isn’t this a triumph against rape culture?

I bet this girls parents are living fucking nightmares of lawsuit threateners. Gif party in the comments for the best approximate representation.
