Trust me, it is one component that has pushed some doctors to burnout. Used to be you did what the doctor told you (most docs gave sound advice, but there were quacks). Now, with information overload, everyone thinks they are Dr. Oz, and try to argue like a physician (“I read on Goggle...”) without the proper

With you, brother doc. Problem is that there is a small-medium subset of physicians who do let patients dictate care. And that can account for the greatest wastage of money. Guidelines are there for a reason; yes, there are times to deviate from them, but those are few and far in between, and not the norm, and

I’m a salaried doctor in this system. I get paid the same whether I see 30 patients or 3 patients a day, meaning they’re paying me for my quality and performance. I’m the one they pay to come in and actually explain/translate what’s going on with you when you can’t understand what in the heck all the other people have

Fellow physician here (EM). I agree with the crux of your post, but I should point out that patients should not be allowed to dictate care, whether here in the US, or in a country w/ single-payer. If you come to me with a viral illness, you’re not getting abx. Same goes with an emergent MR. If I believe you have cauda

Don’t you dare. People got actual enjoyment out of SATC. As far as I can tell, the other show was a hate watch and everyone was awful. Though, I don’t speak from experience, as I only made it through the first few minutes of Girls, before turning it off. NO THANKS.

All she’s known for!?! Ahem. Excuse me. Perhaps you’re not acquainted with a little movie called MANNEQUIN??

Quick somebody redub this with this song instead:

Take two Kesha songs and call me in the morning.

As long as the tax payers don’t have to give a dime, go for it. Otherwise just let the kid go and see if any organs can be used for other kids who may need a replacement. Yes their kid may not survive but at least a little part of him will.

Exactly this. The £1.3 million they’ve raised is just a drop in the bucket of what it will cost for treatment, and if it’s successful, the intensive life-support measures he’ll need going forward. I wonder if they’ve really thought through what it will be like to care for this kid without the benefit of the NHS.

As a parent who has been in this position and has had to make the final decision to end life support, my heart goes out to them, their child, and their family. But the political posturing is disgusting and obscene. They give the illusion of hope when in reality there is none. 10% of improvement in the child’s pain

I honestly don’t think it’s a tough one. Best case scenario is he lives but never has a life. These parents are selfish as fuck.

I also always wonder who these anorexia movies are for, as they often push the “beautiful tortured thing girl” stereotype and let me tell you, anorexia sufferers feed off this. These kinds of movies are never cautionary tales, they’re actually very triggering and encouraging.

Watching this again I just gotta say: I am sick of representing those with extreme eating disorders with great skin and hair. Lily Collins has THICK lovely hair. You want to represent someone with an eating disorder without accidentally glamorizing it and falling into some pro-ana nonsense? Show the thin ass hair

How can you deny a child a solid gold pony, ju? (antisemitic pun intended)

Couldn’t be happening to a nicer guy.

Church stops telling people who and how to fuck, people will stop bring their fucking-related issues to church.

Can you have a series dedicated to a daily Fyre Fest update? This is never not funny.

I really want a job as an influencer. I recommend fruit flavored seltzer water, mixed breed dogs, never wearing shoes with Velcro, and Fun Dip Lik-a-Stix. Does anyone feel influenced? Give me a dollar.

What a brazen play to be appointed Secretary of Eugenics. Heard the position is still open.
