I’ve never personally been a fan of Knightley. She has a particular acting style which, whilst perfectly functional, leaves me cold. But that isn’t the point.

How about it is done for all of us who will never see our rapists jailed?
Fuck this. Just FUCK THIS. Every damn day it’s something worse. Was it always like this? I mean, my school days were pretty fucking horrible, but it was all girls - were mixed schools always a hotbed of rape and abuse? Or is this new? WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK IS WRONG WITH US?!
I think we need to draw a definition between “paedophile” and “child abuser”. One is a desire, which may stem from any number of things. The other is an (unforgivable) act.
While one person (Saville) has been the focus of media attention, others have been prosecuted/imprisoned for abuse, and investigations have been carried out into the culture of silence at the BBC which allowed these men to operate for years. If you google “Operation Yewtree”, you’ll see there’s still a lot being…
I don’t know how the law on reporting child abuse stands in the U.S.. I do know that we have mandatory reporting laws in the U.K., stating that any adult who is aware of a child at risk, MUST report. I also know that the majority of people *don’t even know that this law exists*. Even now, after are own paedophilia…
I approve of vengeance. I find it much more palatable than any other argument I’ve heard put forward for capital punishment. I am anti death penalty - the UK hasn’t had it within my lifetime, and state killing rings pretty barbaric with me.
No one ever said “Do you know who I am?!”, who didn’t then have to tell people who they were.
I can’t wrap my mind around it, either. I’m in the UK, where our government is busy running down the NHS, so they can asset-strip it, sell it to their friends, and run it for a profit, on the U.S. model. Every time I read about the sadistic mess that US system is, my blood runs cold with fear for our future.
HAHAHAHAHA! That’s the measure of that woman’s life, right there. She has zero inner world.
What a horrible situation. I am staunchly pro assisted suicide (and aware that this may not have been), but inability to PAY FOR MEDICINE should NEVER, EVER have to be the reason. We are supposed to be a wealthy, civilised society. We are not supposed to let sick people suffer based on their damned income.
The problem I have with the “you have to be crazy to kill” approach, is that it leaves us a disturbingly short hop to “all crazy people are potentially killers”. We’ve been there too often before, and we crazy people are more likely to be victims.
The law probably does not apply solely to teachers. In the UK, where age of consent is also 16, we have vulnerable adults protection legislation in place. This would come into play wherever there is a seriously fucked-up power dynamic, eg. psych worker and patient, or person with intellectual disabilities and paid…
Quite! I managed to be sexually assaulted exclusively NOT in bathrooms! But strangely, if someone really did want to, I don’t think a law saying “you can’t go in this bathroom” would stop them. After all, the one saying “you can’t rape people” didn’t bother them much.
I wore cloaks in winter throughout my 20s. I spent a lot of time getting followed around shops by security guards.
I’m with you to an extent. I think the input of a trans woman is terribly important, particularly in the light of laws being enacted in the US, and I wouldn’t downplay the power of that for a minute. But she is inevitably expressing something which will resonate most with a minority.
Not lace. Lace is itching. Lace is underwear for another person to see you in, not for you.
I just... I... No.
No, this is surely advice for men...
Of course it does, it’s just individual, as opposed to ingrained and societal.
