The ending doesn’t bother me and within context it works really well.

Uh...did you watch the movie? When Poe makes the decision at the end it’s hammered home how much of a change it is, with Leia giving him decision making authority and smirking at it all. The only people who would miss the character change are people who fell asleep during the movie.  The Last Jedi is a lot of things,

Meryl Streep won't watch her own work, and she's pretty good.

There are valleys of difference between purely vocal and live-action performance. Much more room for perceived error in the latter.

I dare you to watch a recording of yourself speaking while writing this again with a straight face.

True. But for the person in the middle of it, it’s also thousands of notifications to their phone (which most people leave on, despite the fact that social media notifications are terrible as a rule) with people telling you how much they hate you.

There might be people who can deal with that, but it’s disingenuous to

The Republicans were explicitly sabotaging Obama at literally every chance. Obama was disappointing in a lot of ways, but the party fighting tooth and nail to stop him from doing anything has no fucking right to complain that he didn’t do enough. Jesus.

Hey, if senility was good enough for Saint Ronald Reagan, it’s good enough for me!

Can’t remember where I read it but someone posited that Netflix has figured out the optimal # of seasons to run before the cost to subscriber ratio gets out of whack and it’s more profitable for Netflix to cancel something after 3 or 4 seasons unless it’s a mega hit.

Lin starts on next week’s episode.

the hands-down highlight of the episode.  such a lovely, sweet thing.

It’s unbelievable that her first two roles were in Gone Girl and The Leftovers. Her acting is so polished and precise in both of those.

She’s really great, and definitely turned my head when I saw her in Gone Girl. She’s one of those actors like, dare I say, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amy Ryan, John Hawkes, etc., who you notice at some point and go, “who is that?” and you start looking them up on IMDB.  I hope she keeps getting better and getting work.

Now playing

they seemed to run out of good or funny songs after season 1.

I like the Good Place a lot...but far too high. Bojack should take its spot.

Don’t trust the B deserved at least another season

Shut up Leonard. I met your son on Family Day. I know about your gambling problem.

I don’t know. I would guess I would have to know what your complaints are and whether you kept watching all the way through. I may share some of your complaints, but may have just enjoyed the good parts more.

Downton Abbey anyone? Not to everyone’s tastes, I’ll admit, but it’s quite an omission given the cultural pull it had during its run!
