Beer was basically safe to drink water. It definitely contained alcohol, but since it was brewed to drink pretty much at once, a much lower level of it than modern brews.

Yes! I came to state this, but didn’t have the fancy chart. A lot of people drank all day, every day, either high or low levels and it was what it was. I think people drink now but it’s usually in social settings or at home at the end of the day, not swilling the ale with breakfast or sipping cocktails in the office.

I’d say martini glasses have increased significantly too - even since the 1960s. Any time my $14 martini is poured in anything smaller than a cup I need to use both hands to lift I get irritated. If I’m paying that much for a drink it better be a one and done type situation.
