I commented to myself in another post the following:

I’m a 4-6 and usually wear a small in tops. When I was working retail a man came up to me and said, “Hey, I like that shirt you’re wearing; I’d like to buy it for my wife, but I don’t know what size to get. You see, she’s not like you. She’s slender, you know, she’s thin— not like you. She’s slim, you understand? A

I’m not referring to spilling of private details—I don’t have an issue with content. It’s great that she keeps her private life private (good for her!). I’m talking to demeanor and personality.

this why rihanna >>>>>>>>>>>>> Beyonce forever

I’m the same shape and weight as her, maybe a couple inches shorter, and I wear a 10 on a good day.

You also aren’t seeing her in real life. I can’t tell you how many times I thought someone was taller, shorter, skinnier, or even maybe thought they looked a little chubby on screen and in photos only to see them at the grocery store or at a concert and find out how actually small they are.

Weight and build are really relative. People carry weight differently. My cousin and I wear the same size and I am an inch taller than her and outweigh her by 25 pounds. I also cycle and box several times a week and she doesn’t really exercise at all.

Fine, but I think celebrities that don’t want to embrace the feminist label do so because they either don’t understand it and/or don’t want to deal with backlash. Because racism/sexism/gender/sexuality/poverty/etc are all feminist issues. Humanist just sounds better because it doesn’t have a negative connotation. And

The whole article is up on Elle now. She’s saying all the right stuff—it’s a great message overall. All the answers feel like they were written—the structure is overly formal for the spoken word, phrases like “It has never left me.” Too few contractions and little tells like that, you know?

I write speeches for some

I’m 5'6", 180 lbs, and comfortably wear a 6-8 in most stores. My sister is the same height and weight as me, but wears a 12-14. Numbers mean nothing, it’s all how you carry it.

It happens. I’m 5'7" and about 145-150 lbs but I can fit into size 4.

The difference is not necessarily grammar (they do clean interviews up a bit, but strive to retain the conversational quality). It’s in how people respond to a question if answering immediately...vs. answering with the benefit of several hours/days to think about and create the perfect response.

Yep - was really bother by “women have the same rights as men...” comment. No, we don’t. That’s the point. Take a look at grown ass adults swearing at a nine year-old because it’s not appropriate for her to be (and want to be) a reporter. Please.

Did you read her second quote though? I don’t thinks she understands feminism that well, or humanism for that matter.

The times I’ve had the chance to “interview” celebrities it’s pretty much all the same. Emails are exchanged, questions sent, and their team sends back a set of responses that I always call the “Photoshop of Interview Questions”.

I don’t have a problem with the content (expect for the misuse of “humanist”). I simply would like for her to sit down and talk with someone for real one time. Like, converse and answer questions organically in real time.

It’s pretty clear this was not a sit down interview and that the answers were very carefully crafted and drafted. This is the only Beyonce you will ever get again. Gone are the days of her shady looks at her groupmates during interviews and any off the cuff responses.

Working to make those inequalities go away is being a feminist, but more importantly, it makes me a humanist.

Because if it’s just question and answer, it could have happened over email.

If celebrating my roots and culture during Black History Month made anyone uncomfortable, those feelings were there long before a video and long before me.
