I appreciate your perspective but the comment was so bizarre I don’t see a lot of explaination for it. If she was just spitballing, it was a weird place to go.

It’s good she apologized, but it wasn’t an off-the-cuff remark, it was prepared statement. How could she even go there? The only explaination that makes any sense is that she is already shifting to the right in preparation to the GE. She just mis-judged how loudly she would be called out on her pandering. She’s really

It obviously wasn’t an off-the-cuff statement, either. It obviously was a prepared comment. And even if a reporter had stopped me on the street today to comment on her passing, I would not say anything this stupid. Misspoke my ass. She’s pandering for Republican votes.

Not to sound like a stalker, but I have always appreciated your comments, much respect to you too!

In full disclosure I’m White. I can’t and won’t tell AA how to vote (trying not to be one of THOSE white people lol). But when I see fellow White people police Sanders on race but remain silent about Hillary (2008 election? Hello???)... It’s just so disingenuous. They don’t give a shit about racism; it’s just a means

The city of Fargo itself in in ND, but most of the actual action is set in Minneapolis and surroundings (which is where the Coen brothers are from).

Right??? When POC critique Sanders, the media is more than happy to give them a voice (which is fine! he’s not exempt from criticism), bus as soon as they question Clinton... hushed away as quietly as possible.

Whenever they raise the postage people need the little stamps!

FWIW (and I’m not saying Bernie Sanders is perfect) that one Salon article that everyone cites about how he “ignored” black activists in Vermont is highly disputed.

It wasn’t covered much, but not long after Ashley Williams protested, two Black women were kicked out of a Hillary rally merely for having black lives matter SIGNS. Crickets about this on Jez, though.

That’s fair enough, but his entire comment taken in context, really didn’t make an automatic connection between race and poverty, because the first part of the comment was an anecdote about racism experienced by a DC professional, not a poor person. I do think it’s been taken about of context.

In the debate though, the “ghetto” comment was immediately preceded by a story about a colleague in DC who had trouble hailing a cab— obviously a story about racism not related to poverty. Obviously he knows all Black people aren’t poor. And that rich/middle class Black people experience racism, because he said so in

But immediately preceding that comment, if you watched the debate, he talked about a Black colleague in DC who had trouble hailing cabs. He was in no way saying that all black people are poor; his comment had two entirely different examples of racism, only one was connected to poverty.

Also, re: gun control in general, Sanders is more in line with the views of the rest of the country, making him a more, um, pragmatic choice. People love guns more than they hate healthcare. HOW, exactly, is Hillary going to get significant gun control passed with congressional obstruction? Sanders isn’t the only one

His language is outdated but the point is fair.

Maybe we can ask Hillary, can the people affected by the countries we’ve given weapons to also sue?

He’s specifically talking about how Black poverty is different than White poverty, that’s the whole point. He’s making the point that not everything is about economics, which is something he get’s criticized for NOT doing.

Except in that comment he is specifically referencing how Black poverty is different than White poverty.
