I know that. So what? That hasn’t stopped the Republican presidential candidates from supporting her actions.

I’m also skeptical of the idea that she’s going to make bank on the Republican/Fox News circuit. She’s not particularly charismatic or attractive (sorry!), and while maybe she’ll make a bit of money in the short term, it’s probably not worth sacrificing a stable governement job for in the long term.

Likewise! <3

I dunno, but I really wish I could have specified “no evil Republican overlords” when I checked the organ donation box on my DL.

Duh, how do you think Cheney got that heart replacement???

I’m from a conservative part of the country (Western Michigan), and the first time I brought my husband to my hometown (he’s Jewish), the guys behind us on the plane were making anti-semetic cracks about one dude’s ex-wife’s lawyer. I had tried to convince him it’s not SUCH a bad place... so embarassing.

A little off topic, but I was living in China until quite recently, teaching at a vocational college. My classes were mostly filled with 18-20 year old girls, and a great many of them expressed interest in learning how to make Western “salad”. I was sort of flabbergasted because anything can really be a salad, right?

The summer that book came out my younger brothers wrote “SNAPE KILLS DUMBLEDORE” in giant letters in the sand on the beach at Lake Michigan. Memories!

Or just walk 10 blocks south. La Taqueria doesn’t do that rice BS.

There are loads of men like this in STEM fields, unfortunately. My husband’s mom is a women’s studies prof and feminist scholar, but even he has a blind spot to sexism from time to time. Luckily my ranting gets through to him. :)

Being smart in one way doesn’t mean being smart in another. My husband is a math professor at a fancy university, and the chair of his department (a guy with a PhD in math) is a global warming denier.

Shel Siverstein wrote “The Ballad of Lucy Jordan?”???

I was a staunch non-drinker in HS, and in college the only drug I tried pot but it wasn’t my thing.

The Korean language or the Japanese language spoken language are based on Chinese at all. In terms of grammar and pronunciation, Japanese, Korean and Chinese are 3 totally distinct languages (Chinese is a tonal language, with subject-object-verb sentence structure, neither Japanese or Korean are total, and they both

I think it would be self-explantory??? The worst were they guys that would seem appealing for an FWB thing, and I’d email them suggesting we get coffee and they’d flip out, like I was trying to trick them into marriage.

Oh shit. Did I have it wrong the whole time? My bad!

This.

Ikr???

I went to rehab smack in the middle of the Napa Valley (not even joking), and on days when we were allowed to go into town, it was a sort of cruel torture watching groups of white ladies getting drunk and boisterous (as a former wine-swilling white lady.)
