I had never heard of Wylie Wilson, but now I am coveting their bras so badly! I was hoping when you said “pricey” you meant like... 60 dollars. I really wish I could justify 170 dollars on a bra.

Oh my god, when I was living in China, I met Americans who couldn’t stomach any food attached to a bone. Like the grossest fast food hamburgers and chicken nuggets and chicken breasts, were OK, but a real cut of fresh meat on a bone would freak them out.
I prefer to text rather than call because if I call someone and interrupt them, I feel bad, but if I’m texting, they can just text me back later. This FIVE MINUTE RULE basically ruins everything that is great about texting.

On this topic, I would also recommend Robert Kolker’s book Lost Girls, about the still unsolved killings of sex workers whose bodies were discovered on Long Island a few years ago.
On the one hand: I loved this book, and think it would be fabulous re-imagined in Korea.
I love her books! Her newest one, The Paying Guests, was great too.
That’s the first time I’ve seen that gif. It’s amazing!
A few years ago, I was having dinner and a beer at pub, sitting at the bar. A guy sitting a few seats down says, “I know you’re married and reading a book, but can I buy you a beer anyway?”
I have been meaning to read Jonathan Strang and Mr. Norrell for a while now. Good suggestion!
Tampa was excellent!
I agree with the last bit... I just a have a soft spot for overly long novels in general (do you have any favorite novels over 400 pages? I’d be happy to hear them :D). The stuff I liked about the Goldfinch was that it 1)didn’t sentimentalize drug addiction and turn it into a recovery narrative 2)the guy and the girl…
YEP. I don’t care what anyone else says, I loved The Goldfinch, too.
My cat (who looks just like the cat in the video!) will now sometimes bravely venture onto the back deck, after a year of having our first place with outdoor space. A stiff breeze or a passing car will send her running back inside.
We seem to have similar tastes! You’re welcome!
I haven’t read Out. I’ll check it out, thanks! I read Revenge, and it was really haunting. I also liked Hotel Iris. I want to read more of her, but I can never find them in used book stores, and I hate paying 12 dollars on Kindle for novels less than 200 pages (kind of a dumb reason).
If you want a brutal, emotionally wrenching million page (approx) novel: A Little Life, by Hanya Yanagihara.
Re: horror not written by white people, have you read Yoko Ogawa?
I know, right? I think this mass killing, like so many others, will eventually be swept aside with some mumblings about mental illness and (in this case) drug abuse. In 5 years people will be wondering “wait, which one was that again?” when it’s brought up. This is the only country where we have to mentally sort…
Case in point, my husband and I were talking about this tonight, and he claims this will be some sort of turning point (in something), and claimed it was “unprecedented” in the modern Era. I was not so convinced, and I pointed out that George Sodini executed a bunch of women in a fitness class a few years ago, after…
