Not being the same planet with the same geological/evolutionary history is irrelevant to race. The planet in the Avatar: The Last Airbender universe is clearly not our Earth, but I see no one (who isn't a moron) arguing that the characters aren't Asian in appearance and culture.

It's a matter of context and how the culture is informed.

Anime/manga creators typically don't depict their own nationality/ethnicity with the same caricatured features other people do. Giving Goku white skin doesn't make him any more Caucasian than the thousands of other anime characters with white skin who happen to live in Japan.

I never said that anyone specified Superman as a specific race, let alone me specifically.

I never stated that "white" was a specific race, just that Clark Kent, despite being an alien, has Caucasian features and a lack of melanin, so he can best be described as a "white" person.

The manga that the show was based off of was always titled, simply, "Dragonball." The Z was only appended to the anime.

Chinese legend, actually, but still a good point. I seriously doubt Toriyama imagined Goku as an alien from the very beginning; that reveal only came much later and still doesn't retcon the fact that he is based off of a Chinese character in a fictional, Chinese-based world.

The Saiyans are Asian in the same way that Superman is white. He may not have Caucasian blood from Earth, but he certainly does have white skin and Caucasian features.

It's not technically inaccurate and I despise those who argue otherwise, but the fact remains that most people just go by the film's title rather than the actual context of the story.
