My point is that people don't always use words in the way that they're meant to be, which is why an officer needs to have it explained or demonstrated. The officer also never asked her to show him by demonstrating on his person.

This makes perfect sense. People have different definitions of assault, etc. Certain people make poking or slapping out to be a threat on their life. An officer needs to know exactly what was done to ascertain whether something criminal was actually done.
