Absolutely, this is not the most fucked problem in the system. But instead of the media feeding us ineffective outrage, they should be asking why the hell this practice is even allowed in the first place.

No one is inherently good or inherently bad. And it’s okay to acknowledge that.
When you write a “private” letter unequivocally testifying to the character of an accused rapist, how are you not discrediting the accusers? He stood trial because of his alleged conduct. They wrote about their evaluation of his character as though their experiences meant that his accusers’ experience of his conduct…
Kunis and Kutcher were better off saying nothing at all. Meanwhile Topher Grace’s wife gave a subtle F-U to them on Instagram
No she quit
Everyone is mad at the wrong thing. These character letters should not be part of our justice system at all. It’s classist and favors those with the privilege to get letters from respected people. If a petty criminal only knew petty criminals, they would never be able to get letters that a court would receive favorably…

It's funny that men will say women are sluts because some of their friends are sluts. However when a man is known to be a rapist none of their friends unsafe and it was all he said she said anyways. The problem with rape culture is a lot guys know that their friends aren't safe for women to be around but they don't…
Look, what this kind of argument does is say, “Because I know this person, they deserve less punishment.” This argument is exactly why it’s so awful to come forward - especially when it comes to the very famous. The more popular and beloved someone is, the more ‘perspectives’ need to be heard. I don’t for one second…
This thing looks like a hostage video where they were making statements against their will. All that was missing was them holding up a newspaper with the date on it.
Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp wrote letters too, and you’d think they’d know better.
I mean, I can sort of get wishing the person you knew and thought was decent got 20 years instead of 30.
But I just don’t know how to express that to a judge without sounding like you’re defending rapists and attacking victims. So,…
I had originally assumed the letters Kunis and Kutcher are getting dragged for were pretrial public statements of support for their friend... it wasn’t until their apology video that I learned it was actually written AFTER conviction, for sentencing guidelines.
“Masterson accuser Chrissie Carnell Bixler . . . wrote in an Instagram story on Friday directed at Kutcher that ‘you’re just as sick as your ‘mentor,’ meaning Masterson.”
Jonas, Kutcher, and Kunis all need to shut-up for a bit.
Ricci has the right word of it. You must accept even the most charming person can be a monster. You really can’t tell. You have to know that there is some lines you may need to break when things come to fruition.
This was my take as well. “I’m the only voice that matters”.
I used to think that Kunis was the ‘better’ actor between her and Kutcher, but damn. Her performance in reading that pre-prepared ‘apology’ made Kutcher’s look almost Oscar worthy.
they look so pissed off that those letters were made public. theyre not doing this because theyre sorry. only because the letters went public.
Right? He can't even be bothered to say anything nice about her while he has the chance to clear the air, AND he's kinda saying not only "don't believe rumors" but also "don't believe anything she says." This was actually worse than him saying nothing.
‘‘I just wanna say, look – if you don’t hear it from these lips, don’t believe it. OK?”
