DIY skylight!

You’ll be fine. The violence is what I just cannot do with most modern horror films, and in this film there’s only a little bit. I had to avert my eyes a little bit during one scene that was too graphic for me, but most of the film relies on creepiness, the underlying malice of one particular character and the

I don’t think it will be. The overall tone is gradually creeping menace, not outright pee-your-pants fear. There are a couple scenes with some pretty graphic violence (the worst is actually fairly early in the film), but the majority of the film isn’t as blood-drenched as you might think.

I will not lie to you - there are accent issues with his character.

I swear if I can find the time and place I want to do a long-ass writeup on my thoughts on the film, because I loved it. Caution if you want to avoid spoilers altogether, there are some mild character spoilers in the following paragraph.

Oh no, Cumberbatch would have been all wrong for Sir Thomas! I didn’t even know he was originally attached. Hiddleston was the perfect choice (though disclaimer, I generally find Tom Hiddleston to be perfect in EVERYTHING).

I got to see the movie last night and WHOA. The photos don’t even do the color justice.

This is pretty much exactly what I’m expecting! I’m going tonight with a friend and I’m looking forward to seeing what Del Toro does with the Gothic tropes.

This movie is going for gothic horror, not slasher gore so if you like a good creepy old-fashioned ghost story (think Edgar Allan Poe or J. S. LeFanu) I think you’ll be okay with this?

Now playing

I saw another version of this story that included the full version of this video as a bonus. This is supposed to have been 2003, which leads me to the conclusion that Katy has been trying too hard for way too long.

That red dress is to die for. Maybe literally?

I love how the cat opens the door using the handle, then goes through the cat door anyway.

I freaking LOVE Chungking Express. I also watched one recently on Netflix I hadn’t seen before - Fallen Angels - and it was kinda fun to pick out all the tiny Chungking Express references there were in that movie.

Oh, I would choose Elizabethtown over Jerry Maguire, too. It’s terribad in a really general kind of way, though, while my hatred of Almost Famous is very specific to the rock mythology that it glorifies and perpetuates.

Honestly though if I had to pick one I had to sit through again, I’d pick Elizabethtown over Almost Famous. Sweet Jesus, I hated that movie.

AND Nikolaj Coster-Waldau long before he was Jaime Lannister.

Could be, the last time I was down there was two weekends ago (before 1st ACL) and since it was the Pecan Street Festival the whole street was closed off. Generally I avoid 6th like the plague except for occasional visits to Alamo Ritz or Easy Tiger.

I remember this. Boy do I remember this. Apparently I was a “jealous hater” for saying at the time that she looked fucking stupid in a bindi.

It was the dirty side. In the photos you can see Darwin’s across the street in the background, so they were right outside either Recess or Bat Bar.

Yeah, especially on a festival weekend like this one. They don’t do it until at least 9pm though to give people time to go home from work/happy hour. The article says this happened at 7:45. I seriously don’t know how you can be that hammered that early when most bars around there don’t even open until 5 or 6.
