Big-budget video games do not feature many playable black women. But Overwatch, at the very least, purports to care about inclusion, so for many players, it’s been baffling to see multiple genetically-engineered animals and old white guys make the cut before a black woman.

No shit, why do you think people are getting vocal about how shitty she is so far ahead of debates and primaries? The whole point of this process is to try to disqualify the shitters before we’re forced to vote for them

Always feels good and normal when you fire a bunch of employees right after giving your new CFO a $15m signing bonus.

I’ve heard that the SNES can have some issues with the OSSC- some incompatibilities between specific console revisions and television manufacturers due to frequency discrepancies. Then of course you’ve got to consider whether you want to find a 1chip version, whether you want to mod the SNES Mini, etc. Plus SCART

“They made a hamster and a second cowboy before they made a black woman. It just feels like we’re not a priority, and while I can’t tell them what to do, I feel like they’re under-serving a part of their fanbase that clearly wants to throw money at them.”

Saying that they’re working on a follow up to Diablo 3 isn’t announcing a game.

The point I’m trying to make is that it doesn’t really matter what they’re working on- the next big thing for Diablo is going to be a follow up to Diablo 3 which by any definition is going to be a Diablo 4.

I think it’s also important to note that Hearthstone wasn’t announced at Blizzcon- it was announced at PAX. They seemed to have the foresight that an entry into digital card games probably wasn’t the best announcement for the sorts of hardcore fans that attend BlizzCon. And that was an in-house project!

I don’t understand why Blizzard can’t just say the phrase “We’re working on Diablo 4". We know they’re working on it. They know they’re working on it. They’ve said it in so many different ways without literally saying it. Even if what is now Diablo 4 dramatically changes in the future, whatever mainline game that

lighten up, francis

I’m exposing my Nintendo Kid bias here, but I’m surprised they went with two controllers over one DualShock. PS1 was never a multiplayer console for me- why be stuck with 2-player games when the N64 exists? Real shame to see this thing miss out on Ape Escape because they didn’t feel like spending on analog.

Imagine how bad it is being a Michigan fan. Not only is your head coach more focused on his personal brand than the product on the field, but at this point almost every other school in your division has committed some serious, heinous crimes against humanity.

Although you are correct, I think it’s important to know your audience. The author pretty clearly knew that this was going to result in some backlash from certain sorts of individuals:

“Who is seeing it” is an especially good question that is unanswered here. If you’re going to make the claim that these messages are misogynist or sexist, I think that it’s important to find some sort of evidence that they’re targeted at women or non-binary individuals and not just crude humor for the sake of being

Give people a blank wall and spraypaint and someone will eventually draw genitalia. Crucial to this metaphor is the fact that such anatomical graffiti, at least in openly public spaces, is nearly always of a penis. In one sense, it is a juvenile joke; in another and more serious sense, it is a territorial, gendered

Lots of people do that, especially on Kotaku which is normally pretty great on covering social and cultural trends in games. See for example this post on Fortnite, where Patricia Hernandez found a lot of discussion from folks in the community and followed up and talked to them about it: https://kotaku.com/fortnite-mobi

For what it’s worth, the article doesn’t really actually do that- there are a couple allusions to people on Reddit who think it’s sleazy, but no actual quotes or interviews or discussion with them. I think it’d be a much more relatable and persuasive post if we actually heard from the people who are sick of this stuff.

What’s the difference from the perspective of Kotaku’s readers? It’s not like Zenimax’s blacklist has prevented Jason Schreier from getting all the details and rumors surrounding Fallout 76. If the only punishment for honest reporting is a lack of review copies, who really cares? Kotaku might lose out on traffic
