Sounds like Kate had to cancel a royal engagement due to her severe morning sickness, and they admitted the pregnancy to explain her absence (source: Lainey Gossip.) Makes sense to me, doesn’t seem to be trying to undermine anything.

Maybe a primer? I have recently discovered the joy of sheer, “illuminating” primer that makes my skin look much better and fresher, but very natural.

You can Google it, and it immediately pops up tons of articles. But, for the lazy:

Wait just a minute; you have now made snarky “What Up, Swift? You didn’t donate!” comments on at least 2 articles that were completely unrelated to her, didn’t mention her, didn’t give you any reason to single her out. Posters demonstrate that she actually DID donate, and now she’s doing it for publicity?? So...

Why Team Perry?? Yeah, she went for Hilary... there’s also eye witness accounts of her using the n-word despite being asked repeatedly to stop (by black men), and that’s after her years of appropriating black culture. Why is Swift responsible for someone else using her to troll, but Perry isn’t responsible for her own

*Shrugs* Depends, I guess. I didn’t associate any of those phrases listed in the article with Avon or Apple. Beyoance trademarked her kids’ names before they were even officially announced to the public. I’m not saying I totally understand it, but trademarking words/phrases seems to be pretty common with performers

No kidding! Holy fucking hell, this is, what, the 5th, 6th article on Swift I’ve seen in about 2 weeks on Jezebel? I am a big Swift fan, and completely understand why people find her the embodiment of White Feminism (she is) and annoying/too good girl-too mean girl/bad at Pop Starring (meh, to each their own, I hate

Ahahahahahaha I have never seen that, and it is freaking ridiculous.

You’re right, it doesn’t require political expertise. But it still requires someone sticking themselves into a conversation that doesn’t involve them. I haven’t announced at work that I’m against Nazis and hate; I absolutely am, but it’s not really relevant to my job. Again, are we requiring that anyone in the public

Those are politicians and pundits... they should be condemning the alt-right. They should be informed and knowledgeable enough to put together a coherent condemnation, since that’s their freaking *job.*

Dolly Parton, yes, she is beloved, but she’s also country. I guess I’ve never seen Cher as universally beloved; I’ve gotten the impression she’s actually a big joke to a wide variety of people. Lots of folks made fun of my mom for liking “Do you believe in life after love.”

I don’t think it’s that hard to see why the

Because you either die as the hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain. Successful women cannot be eternally successful; they must be brought low after their success, and then rise like a phoenix. You can’t stay popular long without eventually being hated.

Could be she doesn’t make a statement cause she doesn’t want to draw attention to it or be associated with it in mainstream circles. I’m a huge Swift fan who keeps pretty up on her news, and I’ve literally never heard that she was a huge alt-right princess until a few weeks ago. Heck, even here on Jezebel it’s a new

Hmm I’m not aware of this. Could you elaborate on what you’re referring?

Can’t speak for everybody, but the high standard argument is the one I would argue. Sady Doyle had an interesting article (in Elle I think it was?) about how Swift is really just what we wanted her to be, and then are punishing her for it. The part of the article that really resonated with me is that our culture

Darn work, I would have liked your perspective! I think I get what you mean about pop feminism; if you ever want to return to this, I’d love to discuss it!

Was Joss Whedon ripped apart?... I seem to remember a whole lot of defense and justification for him in the comments on the single article Jez had on him... But to be fair, I didn’t read all the comments.

I agree about the Superbowl, but I do think Beyoance goes past performative; the Lemonade videos touched a lot on being a black woman in America, and the difficulties therein. I think “Daddy Lessons” particularly focused in on black women’s struggles with marrying men “like their daddies.”

I am a huge Swift stan, but I
